build question, adding old spacers to OME

I currently have Rough Country 2" spacers (the metal bolt on spacers), and plan on ordering and OME HD lift when i pay off the jeep in 7 months.

Can i put my old 2" spacers on top of the OME lift for more clearance ?

Not sure about all the particulars - but at the very least you'd need to get an adjustable rear track bar in order to put your rear axle back to center and keep your driveline in the right place.

Re: build question, adding old spacers to OME

I most def would not add that spacer up front. That would give you almost 4" over the OME Height... Not to mention your tie rods would take a crap, as well as the steering rack, and you'll be more prone to axle breakage. Most I would do and am doing currently is two .25" spacer that add an additional 1" over the OME HD. The rear would def need an adjustable trac bar as it will shift towards the drivers side quite a bit.

Re: build question, adding old spacers to OME

You could use the rear spacers although it may be a bit tall. What I did was order some 2" poly spacers from Rustys that were actually 1.5". Some just cut down an old RRO spacer. You can try it though and see how much rake you have. You will need longer sway bar links in the rear as well.
Rough estimate of costs as I can remember:
Adjustable trac bar- $130
.5" spacers for front- $29 a pair(x2)
Poly spacer for rear- $80
Rear links- $50

All that can be acquired via Rustys offroad. Be warned their shipping is excessive and their ship dates are very optimistic.

Hey Tosh:

I think I read somewhere you had to modify the Rusty's adjustable tracbar. True?
What did you have to do to it to make it work?

Negative. I just turned it to specified length and bolted it in. Be warned it is a bear to put in by yourself. It helps to move the jeep in and out of the garage to help center he axle some. But you'll still need someone pushing on the body while you try to line up the one hole for the trac bar.

Re: build question, adding old spacers to OME

I know a bit old, but I used a ratchet strap to install the track bar. One end on the frame and the other on the axle. It helps to get the bolts out initially and to align the the axle under the Jeep when installing the new bar. I have done everything to my Jeeps by myself, so if there is a way to do something solo, I have probably figured it out
