Custom Front Skid Plate

I made myself a custom front skid plate for my jeep. I came up with my idea from seeing the 4xGuard. Cost my self about $15 in scrap steel from work. I also took it to work and bent it and punched the holes in at our machine shop. I'm happy with it. Thought I would share it with others that want to do the same thing. It's helpful to protect that bottom power steering hose and the front of your engine bay.

It bolts to the front where your bottom of the bumper bolts on. Then I drilled holes in my Mopar skid plate and welded nuts to it.

I made a similar one about 3 years ago. Have towed thousands of miles, flogged it through deep sand, never had an issue. :) No need to worry about the front diff :)

Without a skid, the crossmemer on these things is like a sand anchor, AND it throws sand right up through the engine bay!

I think around 12 gauge comparable to the Mopar skids just a little thicker.

Nice, I thought about the same thing but I have neither the know how,the supplies, or the tools to attempt it. Good job though. I'm currently trying to talk my cousin, who has been taking welding and working to get certified, into making me a bumper guard/brush guard like the one 4x makes.

think im gonna give it a whirl at building one. i just put a 2" RC lift on my jeep and want to remove the air dam, but i dont like the fully exposed front end look, so i'd like to clean it up with a front skid guard ( totally for looks) i dont need it for actual protective purposes.haha

any tips that could help me along the way.

Nothing really if you want i can try and get some measurements for ya this weekend... Are you buying the metal for it? Currently I'm in the middle of making a front reciver for a multi-mount winch my buddy and I use. Its his winch but we have only used it on my jeep so far this past winter storm... Worked Great btw. Prob get one towards the end of the year. Next project is a mount for my conceal carry XD I just bought this weekend. :)
