Finally installing my OME

The time will be near that the pile of parts on the floor will soon be on my Jeep. Heading to my buddy's shop in the morning to install everything. I'll post pics tomorrow!

Re: Finally installing my OME

Stock Fronts - Lower control arm strut bolt was seized in the bushing - we ended up pulling off the entire spindle, and pulling the strut from the fork. I replaced the lower ball joints anyway so the spindle was coming off regardless.

Spindle Removed - Spacer and all

It's all gone!

OME Strut vs. OE Struts

I replaced all strut components so I didn't have to disassemble the stockers - also handy if I decide to sell it and want to put it back to the way it was.

Front Strut Installed

JBA Strut Spacers

JBA Upper Control Arms

It's starting to come together

The rear was extremely easy - pull the shocks, pull the sway bar links, lower the rear diff, we also unbolted the drivers rear upper control arm (it was hitting the fuel tank skid and binding the spring.

Passenger Side

Driver Side

Stock Spring Comparison

Stock Shock Comparison

Passenger Rear - Installed new rear sway bar links too.

Driver Rear

TADA!!!!

Also, just for comparison, here's the Jeep at stock ride height w/ 245/65R17 Pirelli Scorpions - New tire is 255/75R17 Destination AT

All in all, with tires and OME, I netted almost six inches from the bottom of my rock rails (Measured at front wheel).

My stock measurements were as follows:
Top measurement was bottom of rock rail to ground
Second measurement was center of hub to bottom of fender
(I'll add the OME measurements tomorrow, it's dark outside)

LF RF
12.75 13.00
18.00 18.50

LR RR
14.25 14.25
19.50 19.50

Also installed my SRT8 Front Sway Bar - No Pics, it was an easy R&R.

I also trimmed the back of my hitch and I don't think there is any way I'm getting my spare up there. Tosh, I may reach out and see how you have yours setup. Right now its just sitting in the cargo area.

Ride with the OME MD is awesome, much tighter than stock, but not rougher - just less float. I think my front springs, shocks were toast - it was nose down pretty bad with the 4xGuard, Front Hitch, Hemi, Rock Rails, etc.

Send me a PM and I can shoot you my number. I've got a 265/70/17 under the gf's XK and got a 285 to fit under mine but it was pretty much right on the trac bar. Jeep looks great btw bud! You should come up north to Gilbert with us for our winter run. It's a blast!

PM Sent!

BTW, never been up to Gilbert, but definitely up for a road trip - just may have to take some easy runs, because I am definitely not ready to try out my sliders the way you did up in the Iron Range. (I saw your videos )

Right now life's been crazy, I'm in my last semester of grad school and I don't know why I thought it was a good idea to work a full time job, plus take 3 grad classes per semester - That's why it's taken so long to put these parts on my Jeep. Can't ever find much time between work and school. December 10th can't come soon enough!

Dang! Sounds like quite the load. I'm sure it'll all be worth it in the long run. The trails up there range from everything that a stocker could do to extreme. We "try" and not get too crazy... lol. It's a fun time for sure!
