Installed Rocky Road Cherokee KL Super Sliders

Hi All, got the Rocky Road Cherokee KL Super Sliders and diamond pattern cover plates today on my 2016 Trailhawk and I love them! As promised here are a few pics on a local trail area. The cost for RRO for the super sliders and cover plates was about $640 including UPS shipping

Re: Installed Rocky Road Cherokee KL Super Sliders

Looks good! I would like some for our trail hawk as I plan to use it for light off road duties and general exploring. However I still have a couple months before our TH is built.

Dirtymutt, thanks! If you do go with the RRO super sliders you won't regret it. They are USA custom made in their shop in Utah, so not off the shelf. FYI Took about 3+ weeks to get them from time of placing the order. Good luck with the new TH. When do you expect the new car?

Re: Installed Rocky Road Cherokee KL Super Sliders

I've ordered parts from them before and they were good quality. The Canadian dollar is so bad right now that it's just not worth it to cross border shop. It's really to bad since all the good parts and gear I've ordered came out of the USA so I can't wait for the dollar rebound. Our dealer figured the TH would be delivered in March sometime but Milous tracking currently shows it as 3rd week in Feb so I guess we will see. We had bought a 2015 RAV4 and it has some quirks such as transmission shifting, coolant smell, ridiculous exhaust hanging, plastic skid plate and poor dealer service so we're trading it. We ordered a light brownstone pearl TH and have not seen the color in person yet other then a paint chip. Hope the jeep turns out to be a good vehicle. The RAV4 wasn't capable of exploring without risking wheel and exhaust damage.

Hey Dirtymutt, interesting observations on the RAV4. The 2016 THs are great and you will not regret it. The number of available 3rd party mods for the 2014+ Cherokee KLs are increasing every month. Are you getting the 3.2L V6 or the 4-cylinder?

Had not occurred to me about the exchange rate making the 3rd party mod parts in USA too costly for Canada brethren. That's a bummer. Are there any good jeep mod suppliers in Canada you use?

Re: Installed Rocky Road Cherokee KL Super Sliders

It will be a v6 with tow pkg, leather, cold weather, safety tec and 9 speaker stereo. We had to opt out of a sunroof due to head room issues in the rear seat. The no sunroof is the reason we needed to factory order since almost every one locally had the roof. I'm sure there are some Canadian suppliers but I'm not aware of any and even if there was it would still be cheaper to order even with lousy exchange. We are gouged on everything up here.
As an example a few years back our Ford Explorer needed a cracked manifold replaced. I had our local dealer quote it and then contacted a dealer in Kalispel Montana. I paid 2 nights hotel, exchange, weekend worth of family meals and the repair that ended up needing extra work due to broken studs and I still came out cheaper then having it done locally. Plus I got a nice weekend away with my wife and son.

Re: Installed Rocky Road Cherokee KL Super Sliders

I'm also interested in the RRO winch mount. My hard wheeling is now left to our RZR and dirt bikes but I would like to make a nice expedition type vehicle. I always enjoy back roads/logging roads when travelling which usually leads to me pushing further then I should. Lol

Yeah, the RRO bumper guards / winch mounts look nice and have gotten good forum feedback. I am considering them for future too. They also come with different lighting packages.

Re: Installed Rocky Road Cherokee KL Super Sliders

Hi DiamondDaveSaints (quite a handle). Did you fit the Rock sliders yourself or get someone to do it for you?
I'm almost ready to pull the trigger on a set but don't have all the installation steps clear in mind yet. I have some tools but want to find out what additional equipment (if any) that I might need. Or if I should opt out and find a panel shop somewhere who would do it for a reasonable price.
The main question I have right now is that the RRO instructions say to drill through the pinch stem from the back. I'm not sure what that means or how difficult that is going to be to do.
What was your experience with these?

Hey John, thanks for the note. After reviewing the installation instructions for the RRO super sliders and considering installing them myself, I opted to have a local 4x4 shop Texas Truck Works do the install.

The step you are referring, and several other drilling steps have proven to be challenging due to the difficult drill angles (to put it kindly) and special drill bits needed. Some who did the install recommended having some backup bits handy as they went they a few trying to drill the required mount holes.

I want to say I really like the super sliders and diamond plates. They look great on my 2016 TH and are very functional as well.

Good luck and keep the group posted!

Cheers
Dave
