Lift Advice

I've been putting it off for a while now, but I've finally decided to lift my 2001 Grand Cherokee Limited. After doing a little research on here, I've decided to go with Bilstein shocks. I'm still unsure whether I should go with a coil or spacer lift. If I do go with the coils, do you recommend the 2.5" or 4.5"? I only take my Jeep wheeling every now and then, it's more of my daily driver. Thanks for the help

Re: Lift Advice

Well it comes down to what you want to spend.$400,$1200,$2500? 2.5"-3" is all you're gonna get with the stock control arms. That's the $400 part of the equation. It escalates from there. To get into a decent long arm kit (and you really need this after 3"to mellow out drive line angles)it's $1200 on up to the sky's the limit depending on what you want.Seems like a big jump but there's way more parts involved.IMO I'll take the coils over a spacer lift but that's just me.Many members are running 2" spacer lifts and love them.If you do occasional wheeling I'd start out with 2"-3" get your feet wet,see how you like the handling of a lifted vehicle and go from there. You can always upgrade down the road.Hope this helps.

Re: Lift Advice

If you're actually going to use the lift for offroading, go with the coil lift. The spacer lift will give you some more clearance, but won't give you any additional flex.

Once you get past the 3" mark, prices start to go up exponentially. You have to get extended brake lines, track bars, control arms, etc.
