Lift question

Im new and I understand quite a bit but don't know the finer points yet.

So I just put a 2" BB on my Jeep. The next few things I wanna replace are as follows (in the order):

-Shocks. Im thinking Bilstein 5100s. I wanna make it ride stiffer though, I hate this roller coaster up and down nonsense when i drive through dips. What's peoples experience with these? Is there another shock that works good for future lifts, and rides stiff, and is time tested?

-Springs. Any advice in this area will be helpful. How high can I go before I start messing with Arms and that stuff?

Thanks for your help and advice.

-J

Re: Lift question

Everybody seems to love Bilsteins on a WJ. I haven' had a chance to try mine yet but from what I hear I'm gonna love them. 4" is the edge of the envelope for the short arms.

Re: Lift question

When you say "the edge of the envelope" do you mean like Im 6 ft from the edge or I have one foot dangling off the edge?

Depending on the lift kit, 4" is too much on short arms. if you get a good lift kit, (from what i hear, ZONE OFFROAD is a great one) then 4" will be fine. may need some tweaking and small add-ons for a stable ride. all depends on the Jeep, so i hear. i would NOT go any bigger than 4 on short arms. and DO NOT under ANY circumstances, use a BB and a 4" Lift kit to acheive 6" of lift. i have only heard bad things about that. if you ONLY use it as a mall crawler (road use ONLY) then you MIGHT be okay. but from what ive heard, i would erase that thought from your head.

then again, ive yet to have a lift on my Jeep (money is the issue) so maybe someone with experience can tell me whether my way of thinking is right or not.
