Question Lifted wheel alignment question

I recently lifted my jeep with the RC 2" lift and added general Grabber at2's 265/70/17. I took it into firestone and got the lifetime alignment. They told me they could only align the TOE, and not the camber or caster. Will this affect the wear of my tires? is there a way to adjust that myself or give them angles to use for it?

Thanks for the suggestion guys.

Re: Lifted wheel alignment question

Both camber and caster are adjustable... take it back and demand your money back or that they perform the alignment to the best of their ability. I will never throw a shop under the bus and say you demand perfection because the suspension geometry has changed you cannot expect them to be perfect. BUT to not even touch them when there are adjustments is not cool. Both the front and rear mounts on the lower control arm move in and out, the rear more-so than the front.

Camber and caster are not as much tire wear angles as stability angles but there is no point in having a crappy alignment for no reason.

Re: Lifted wheel alignment question

thanks for the response, they claim that they cannot do anything because it will not match with the angles they have because the lift is not stock? I asked them to adjust it to the best they could and they replied that they cannot do anything because they dont know what the best angle should be. Has anyone else had this issue when getting a lifted car aligned?

Re: Lifted wheel alignment question

Slap them in the face or go somewhere else - they're on CRACK

I have an OME and i've gone to 2 different places - no problem.

Re: Lifted wheel alignment question

the lifetime alignment was 160, Im getting pretty aggravated with them in the fact that they are refusing to do anything with this, Im going to try and take it to another firestone and see what they tell me. I wasnt aware that I would run into this with just a 2 inch lift

Re: Lifted wheel alignment question

There were alignment suggestions that came with my daystar lift... Honestly I just put it to factory specs... you need to go higher, ask to speek to the manager, height has little to do with the tires contacting the road flat and driving straight. I am not saying it has nothing to do with it but for them to refuse to make adjustments at least towards factory specs is unacceptable when there is adjustments that can be made.

I would ask to speak to a manager or even owner, then when that doesnt work I would come in with a demand letter that suggests a non attempt on their part to rectify the situation (the situation being not properly performing or even attempting the alignment) you would contact the BBB as well as posting an accurate review on the internet, and possibly discussing any legal action reguarding the lifetime alignment that was purchased but wasnt even attempted (which you can proove that the camber and caster is adjustable and they say it isnt and refuse to touch it)... you didnt pay for a lifetime "toe set"

You can also mention in a demand letter that unless they can prove that the current settings are better for your vehicle that the only known good settings are factory and that their claim of not knowing the proper specs "for the lift" is invalid and they must perform the alignment to the best of their ability (factory settings). If they didnt clarify that they will only be doing a toe set and not even attempting the other adjustments when they sold you the lifetime alignmet then they lied to you.

Good luck!

Re: Lifted wheel alignment question

thank you for the input, they still suggested that there is no way to know the proper angles, I will be returning to the shop once again with this argument and am going to ask for a refund for the lifetime alignment. I also noticed yesterday that my driverside back wheel is sticking out 1 inch further than all my other wheels. I am not sure why but it is definitely sticking out further. Would anyone know why its out so much farther than the others?

Re: Lifted wheel alignment question

because a lift with your stock track bar it will naturally pull your axle over some, if you want to fix it talk to omlet about his adjustable track bar, i dont remember any info on it off the top of my head.

You may may want to find out what they would charge for a toe set, I know an alignment shop by my parents did a full alignment for 50 bucks, if thats the case offer that you will pay them for that service and request to have the difference returned to you, that way your not out to get free stuff when they did perform a toe set... from there, NEVER go back there.

Re: Lifted wheel alignment question

http://www.daystarweb.com/attachment.../kj/p11044.pdf On page 4 is "suggested alignment specs" for a 2" lift... they are IDENTICAL to factory specs, print it off and tell them to align your damn jeep.
