Liftin' the Jeep

This is my first post! Hey everyone! I am coming from the import tuner scene. I just got a nice little hand me down Jeep. Its a 2005 5.7 liter Limited 4x4 with a hair over 40,000 miles. I have been driving it around for a little while. I want to lift it and I wanted opinions. I have done my research!

2" BDS spacer lift kit
Bilstien Shocks
275/70/17 tires. Undecided between the Bridgestone Dueler Revo 2 and the BFG AT KO.

I might also consider a slight wheel spacer for the stock wheels. Maybe a .25". Any feedback or opinions would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Liftin' the Jeep

Welcome, glad you got out of a ricer and have seen the other side! There will be people on here that can help you more than I, but I'll give it a shot.

-It may be a tight squeeze to run that combo lift/tire combo and there may be some rubbing but that is not first hand experience.
-I have Bilstien's all around and they are great.
-I had BFG A/T KO's on my XJ and was able to get around 55-60K out of 31's with regular rotations. They are a great tire however from my experience if you are running in mud or clay, they tend to "clump" up.

Hope this helps.

Re: Liftin' the Jeep

Thanks for the info guys! Yes, bilstiens are a MUST! Especially for the price!!! I think I am going to stick with a factory tire size like a 245/65/17 for now to keep it safe. Lame I know. lol. Looking at the Nitto Terra Grapplers.

Re: Liftin' the Jeep

Personally, get OME shocks as they are 2" longer. With that might as well do the OME lift since its not putting some chunks of plastic under the springs and calling that a "lift"

Also, stock tires will look really gay with a lift. 255/75/17s or 265/70/17 and spidertrax 1.5" spacers will do you well.

Re: Liftin' the Jeep

Bislteins are a waist if you plan on lifting it, go with the shock made for 2+ inches of lift, go OME.

Re: Liftin' the Jeep

Thanks for the info everyone! I have decided not to lift it right now. I am still doing the Bilstiens to firm up the wobbly ride and I just ordered some 245/65/17 Nitto Terra Grappler tires today. I've decided not to lift right now and keep it simple because I won't off road THAT much and I still have to drive the Jeep everyday and sometimes drive clients around. But I will still be able to have a little fun either way! Especially with the custom exhaust and possibly Superchips tune I have planned..... buahahahaha!
