You're going to need spacers at the very least, most likely will have to do the pinch mod, cut the uca bolt, those are some pretty wide tires.

The power it is going to take to rotate those monsters. Your 3.7L won't feel underpowered anymore it will feel crippled. Well at least struggling.

wheel spacers and a pinch weld mod... but I'm still not sure if 285s are possible without a lift.. i run a 2" lift with 265s.. 1.5" spacers and the pinch weld mod done and I have a wide stance from the 1.5" spidertrax spacers.

oh I'm gonna put a lift on for sure. Im thinking about the rough country 2.5 with bilsteins shocks. or the emu hd. i think ima go with the cheaper one :/

but will the 285s fit with a 2.5 lift? with a pinch weld, and some spacers?

are spacers bad? what the best spacers i can't get to make it look pretty wide?

okay, if youre dead set on 285s, just go with the OME HD lift. to answer your previous question, a BB is short for a budget boost, which is what all the 2" lifts are. they are comprised of either a poly or a metal 2 inch spacer that sits atop your suspension components to provide 2" of lift... they are cheaper, but with professional install you run the cost of about 500 bucks or so. then you have your bilsteins that will boost you 3/8" and will provide you a nicer ride. those will run you 300 plus install.. so maybe 500... at this point its safe to say WITH a garage doing the install youre spending 1000.. not to mention your spacers that will cost you 200-300 and new 285 tires which will probably be close to a grand.

Going with the OME HD lift is a MUCH BETTER way to lift.. I understand trying to save money.. but save a little more and spend the extra on the OME... you get your lift from springs and struts/shocks instead of spacers... you can get the lift from a seller on here who goes by the name of Kolak for $700 or so... the ome hd lift will give you a total of 3" of lift.. a better option if youre going with 285s for sure and also provide more travel in rear shocks for your offroading purposes while still providing a nice daily driver ride... if i could do it all over again, I would go OME rather than the daystar i bought, not that i dont like mine.. it suits my needs just fine but the best bang for your buck will be going with the OME HD.. ask anyone here and they willl tell you the same.

as far as spacers go, I and a lot of other run the Spidertrax 1.5" spacers..they are very reliable and get great reviews. I have not had a problem at all with mine and they give me a wide stance.. even with 265s.. i honestly don't know if i would run them with 285s though.. tooo wide if you ask me.

Wow thanks for that man, that was a BIG help. Really cleared up pretty much all my questions!

Ya i think I'm just going to save up for the OME HD.

So all I need to purchase is the "OME HD" (that comes with springs/struts/shocks) and the "Spidertrax 1.5 Spacers" and I should be good?

Re: Lifts and tire size thread :)

contact Kolak when you're ready to buy and he will get you a good price on the OME HD lift shipped to your door.. and yes its comprised of 4 springs-- 2 for front, 2 for rear, 2 struts for the front and 2 shocks for the rear.. you'll get 3" of lift from that.. I would honestly hold off on the wheel spacers at first.. just to look around more and see what you will need.. 1.5" may be too much...285s are a big tire..
check out the "lifted WKs" sticky thread started by AcidCold in the offroadmods section...theres a lot of pics there and you can see what other users are running.. I'm sure youll find some with the OME and 285s.. contact a few users who run that and ask if they run any or what spacer would be best for that setup.. i run the 1.5" bc i have 265 tires.. i think its too much for 285s though... spidertrax make a .5" i believe.. may suit your needs more.

and dont forget youll need to do the pinch weld mod to avoid rubbing on the wheel wells... 2 people to contact if you need more advice would be "omelet" and/or "mr.tosh"... they are probably 2 of the most knowledgeable guys on this thread when it comes to lifting and modding for lifts.

good luck with the lift. Make sure you post pictures when its all completed.
