Lol!

This is the lift and tires thread. I was posting my lift and tire size, not trying to tell you what you needed to get. Sorry but I don't know what will fit with 18 inch wheels. 17's I can help you all day long. 18's I got nothing. Good luck.

After a considerable number of hours of research and questioning, I have come to the conclusion that 18" is off-road blasphemy. Therefore, I have decided to change route and swap wheels out too to avoid using spacers to clear UCA bolt. I have my eyes set on these from Pro comp as they look cool, not sure if the offest and backspace would do the job though, keen to know if anyone has used them. Back to your response, I suppose 265/70/17 would be a good choice on these?

EDIT: corrected link was incorrectly pointing to 18x9, now 17x9 version on pro-comp website.

Re: Lifts and tire size thread :)

4.75 backspacing is perfect. Essentially its the same as running 1.5 inch spacers on the stock wheels. You can clear 265/70/17 with that BS on a BB not problem.

What you need to decide is if you will be happy with x9 width rim and -6mm offset. To put it into perspective. this is a 265/70/17 on a BB with 17x8 rim that has 4.75 inches of BS and 6mm offset.

EDIT: With that set up I had no rubbing or clearance issues without doing the pinch weld mod.

Thanks for the pics and explanation, that setup is perfect for me (those pics are EXACTLY what I am hoping to achieve, but get your point on protrusion of wheel on an 8" rim and what it would be on an 9", out of interest which 17x8 wheel in those pics?). , I prefer the wheels to stick out a little bit from fenders (aggressive look), and happy to know I don't need to do the pinch weld mod with 265/70/17 tires.

So just to confirm my target setup: '09 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7 Overland with 4.75" BS and -6mm offset wheels with 265/70/17 BFG KO A/T, RC 2" lift, Bilstein Shocks -- ok without rubbing, no pinch weld and no bolt trim.

The pictures are for a 05/06 JGC, assuming the bolt/fender linings haven't changed in the 07 to 10 JGC?

Two questions, what is "BB" and what is Grenade Gear?

Thank you very much for you help Lucas!

I have an 05 and those are the Mamba Mr-1 wheels.

A BB is a budget boost lift like the Rough Country and Grenade Gear is a company that makes amazing stuff. It has since had a name change to JAVRAN and is owned by a JG member with a badass WK.

Local supplier only has imported 17x9, and out of the selection these are the ones I would be going for (assuming all fits well):
http://www.procompusa.com/prodDetail...73&plID=108150

In your setup, the wheel sticks out fender side a total of 4 inches plus 6mm (107.6mm), in my targeted setup it would be 4.5 inches minus 6mm (108.3mm) - both measured from the center of the rim. I can't see how there would be a great deal of difference between the 8 inch and 9 inch in this case (0.7mm) ?

Nevertheless, it's always best to test the setup on the actual vehicle, did a quick test with Sahara 17 inch rims and 1.5" spacers with 255/75/17, and the tyre rubbed on both sides wheel lock (lift not yet installed so assume that would make all the difference). Can the wheels in the above link be successfully tested prior to installing the RC 2" lift?

The dilemma is the lift will only go in next week, and I need to purchase the wheels before the end of the week ...

Edit:- I also can't see how I am going to get 265/70/17 tires and the above wheels in without doing a pinch weld, not entirely comfortable doing it but it seems no other choice ?

2nd Edit:- it appears 9" wide wheels is a stretch for 265/70/17... So seems as though I'm going to have to import 17x8 wheels myself or find tires that fit the 17x9 ... Stuck again !
