Re: Ordering Shocks Today

So i got the bilsteins and rough country lift in. Also put in the rear addco swaybar. What a difference...despite being taller, the truck handles and corners better than it did. I am very impressed.

My only question at this point is: It seems as though the front was lifted higher than the back. I know it is a lifting/leveling kit, but the fender is 1.5" higher in front than back. Is it possible that the front bilstein strut is the cause of this?

That's strange, the factory rake has the rear higher, but iv never heard of the front being higher, maybe someone else can chime in who has. You gotta give them a little while to settle in

Re: Ordering Shocks Today

the RC kit usually levels out the front. It did with mine. the Bilsteines add like 3/8 of an inch of height too, but I think it's all around. Def something strange there if you're 1.5" higher up in the front

Re: Ordering Shocks Today

Aren't the bilstein hd's already charged for taller or longer travel so essentially they would be best with lifts?

Re: Ordering Shocks Today

I do not know the answer to that question...what i do know is that i could compress the factory struts by leaning on them, the bilsteins i could not compress. As far as the physical size, the strut and shock were the exact same dimensions as the stocks that came out. I will take pics very soon...

Re: Ordering Shocks Today

Ok, sorry it took so long but below are pics of the front and rear fender height. I measured vertically centered on the wheel up to the intersection point of the wheel well. The front was about 36" and the rear was about 34.5". I was under the impression that the Rough Country lift/leveling kit would make the truck apear to be more level then the stock raked forward look. BTW, I have the stock 245/65/17 wheels. Does anyone else have a comparison from front to rear wheel well heights with the RC 2" lift?
Thanks,

Re: Ordering Shocks Today

So 10 days and about 500 miles later the front fender is now at 35.5". I suppose the struts just needed so settle down. I will report back if the front continues to low and eventually makes it to the level position.

Re: Ordering Shocks Today

Look up to down: Koni FSD, stock strut, OME strut. The length is exactly the same.

Re: Ordering Shocks Today

thanks for that photo, Nick.Nevada. I am still fairly new to all this, But I guess I expected the OME strut to be longer. does it still have more travel than OEM? (sorry if thats a stupid question)

Re: Ordering Shocks Today

I expected the OME to be longer rod travel, but it's not true in experimental way )) Moreover, I know guy who have installed Koni FSD struts over OME coils and all runs good.
Bilstein's guys here in Moscow told me that Bilstein struts doesn't fit for lifted Jeeps according to catalogue but these will run if Koni runs too ))
