I have a stock 06 WK and it's that time for me to be getting new tires, so I thought I should lift the Jeep since it's great timing.
I was wondering what lift kit (brand and size) and what tire size would be the best combination so I will not have to use spacers. I will be posting some pics of the Jeep when I get home tonight.
What about an OME 2.25" or a Rough Country 2" lift? Either one of these seems to be pretty easy work to put on and fairly inexpensive. Just wondering what size tires I can get on the WK with this sort of lift?
I already have the tire brand picked out and I will have them mounted and an alignment done. Just looking at what size I can get with that sort of lift so I don't have to put on spacers.
How big of a tire = how big of a lift you get. How much are you wanting to spend? It'll be about a grand to mount and balance the tires +tires. OME lift is about 780-800 shipped then few hours for a shop to install it.... there is a grand there. Superlift 4" is a 2K kit and it'll cost abit to install it since its requires welding and cutting.
The biggest tire you can go with is 285/70/17 or 33"x11.5"x17". You'll have to do the fold pinch weld mod and trim the bolt on the upper arm there to fit that size AND you'll def have to get 1.5inch spacers.
Ok, I will have to check with them, but I was wondering which one of these tires would be better for my WK, Greneral Grabber AT2 or the Firestone Destination AT. I can get really good deals on both of them, but wondering which one would perform better and look good at the same time.

Go with a Rough Country lift since it uses a metal rear coil spacer which will outlast all other poly spacers sold with every other kit, i believe that lift kit is about $150. a 255/70/17 will fit with no modifications, and no need for wheel spacers. This setup will save you a good penny.
I have the Rocky Road 2.25 lift with 265/70/17's and 1.5 spacers. I kept my stock rims on as well. I like my set up, looks good handles off road well and does good on the highway. But there are a few different spacer kits you could go with.

I have the rock krawler lift and love it. It has great road manners, and handles well off road. My only complaint or issue I need to fix, is the rear shocks should definitely be longer. When you really flex the suspension, the back end feels like it isn't living up to it's potential. But that's something that can be fixed or upgraded during installation.
I would definitely be interested to see how the measurements come out. I have never acutally measured it because I was satisfied with the look it acheived and the ride quality. Wouldn't be a bad thing to know exactly how it stands up to others.
I will measure tonight when I get home from work and let you know.

It looks good man. It really does. I'm not bashing your ride. I like it. I'm just saying that people I've talked with on forums when I was shopping for a lift said I would get more lift with the OME kit and that RK doesn't give 3.5"
You don't have to measure if you don't want to. Your ride looks good.
Oh no I didn't think you were bashing it at all. Dont worry my feelings dont get hurt that easily. lol I really would be interested to see how it measures up. Ill get them up tonight.
Sounds good tho for the money. Even if it isn't as much lift as other 3.5's or 3's. I just can't make up my mind on what I want to do either. (same as OP)
