Re: Looking to lift: No off-roading

Hey All - Im new to the forum and looking to buy a WK2 and lift it.
Like the OP I am interested in all options from suspension to spacers.

Is there a rolling thread where all of the info can be broken down?

Re: Looking to lift: No off-roading

depends... you could go daystar/RC and bilsteins OR RRO and bilsteins. personally after owning the daystar- i would probably go with the RRO budget boost and a set of bilstein HDs. it nets you over 2" and some of the pics you see of rigs with these BB look alot bigger than those with daystar

Re: Looking to lift: No off-roading

IMO why put a lift in and put the stress on your front end if your not going to off road. I wouldn't lift at all. Just do the pinch weld and slap some bigger tires on there. Save your money and put it towards a new pair of wheels.

Re: jeep wk lift

Save yourself the time money and aggravation. Do it right the first time and save up for the SL. As soon as you install a BB, your just gonna want to go bigger.

God damn you Lucas- everytime i talk myself into a lift your logic makes me think otherwise. jk

seriously, on a DD- an OME HD or MD wont put that much stress on the front end.

Re: Would this work?

I'm in the same boat, we need to measure our jeeps and get somebody in here with a OME HD kit to see how big a diff it would be. I'll have my measurements from the center of the wheel to the fender later today.

EDIT: I just went out and threw a tape measure on it. 21.5in all around. This is with..

Daystar 2in lift
Bilstein HD's
Monroe 643's

It rides like my xj.

Well I'm at 20.75 in the front and 21 in the rear with just the daystar and stock struts and shocks. 50K on it.

Re: Would this work?

yea. Rob is using OME HD springs, struts, and shocks and also kept the entire 2" rear poly spacer from his daystar in. he has a tiny bit of a raked look.. but it looks good on a higher lift like that. Ideally, I would like to be at 22" all around. I was going to throw bilstein HDs in the front and 643 Mlls in the rear, but I have a 4.7L and with the rear already being at 21 and the front at 20.75 (i attribute the 1/4" less to the 4.7 as opposed to 3.7L).. i think doing the 643's would leave me with too much rake in the rear. For that reason I was thinking of going with the direct replacement 646s... but if I ever want to upgrade, those wont be long enough to pair with OME springs.

Does anyone know the factory measurements center hub to fender on a 4.7L WK?? itd be nice to know so I can gauge off of that.
I just dont want to end up with more than 1/2" of rake. bc the front fender is optically taller.. the half inch of rake is okay with me if it needs to be.. but I wouldnt want anymore than that.. I dont know if i can get away with the 643s. I'd say the best for me to do would be put bilsteins up front.. measure.. and decide if i want 646s or 643s.. but I would be paying for install and wanna do it all at once.
