Re: Uneek Rock Rails install on a WK2

Confirmed...
So I visited a Jeep Dealership today in order to look at and compare the fenders between the Summit and Non-Summit versions... And sure enough the fender on the Non-Summit version (pictured) does not protrude out like the Summit version... But I am still good with how Uneek sliders look on the Jeep!

Hopefully I will have some time towards the end of this month to post some step by step documentation of my install process along with photos, tools used, etc...

Looks good!! Wonder if the Mopar rock rails will have the same issue on a summit?

They look good, would you say they are as Beefy as Mopar or the same ? When I got me Mopar Rock Rails I was impressed with the quality of them and when the Dealer offered to install them for 3or 4hrs Labor I figured it would have taken me that long to figure out how to get the side molding off they had it for 2 days and still couldn't get it done are the Uneek easier. Thanks for sharing

Re: Uneek Rock Rails install on a WK2

Sorry JMP8562 for the delayed response! The Uneek rock rails appear a little easier to install than the others based on the videos I have watched... The hardest thing was drilling the holes but you just have to take your time with that step... During my install I took some videos as well of the install process I will try and upload them sometime in March or April... I have had the Uneek rock rails on for several months and I am still very pleased with them! Also because of of I did the install I can remove the rock rails and put the OEM side molding back on if I wanted to go back and forth between the factory look. If you want to do that DON'T just RIP off the side molding like you see in some of the other videos...

Re: Uneek Rock Rails install on a WK2

Student4Life or anyone else that has the Uneek rock rails installed - how well do you think they are working as an actual step? I have been trying to decide between the Mopar or Uneek rails, but most of the input I have gotten on the Mopar rails so far is that they don't work very well as a step.

I have a camping trip planned in a couple of months down at Tuttle Creek in Kansas. Based on my trip last time with my WK, some protection down there will let me be a little more aggressive this time!

Thanks in advance for any input you can provide.

Re: Uneek Rock Rails install on a WK2

@LJS8510 - Thanks for the push! LOL! Work and family life has been getting in the way...

Update:
I am still liking the Uneek Rock Rails! However because the rails double as a step some of my passengers have made comments about it being a little awkward stepping out. BUT my Mom likes the step because it makes it a little easier for her to get into the Jeep based on her comments...

Anyway that is one thing to consider...

I have had the rails on the jeep for several months now, Would I still purchase them again? My answer would be YES!

The main thing to remember is NOT to simply just rip off the side molding like you see in other videos if you ever want to switch back and forth...

I still have the videos I took during the install... I just need to find the time to edit them in order for it be easier for people to digest the information contained in videos...

Any videos of these yet? I'm looking at these as an addition to the Jeep.

Re: Uneek Rock Rails install on a WK2

Drewstein - check out my post on how they turned out on my Limited. You need to be aware of how the ends match up to the fender moldings before making the decision.

What did you do to your WK2 today?

Glad to answer any questions you might have - just PM me.

Re: Uneek Rock Rails install on a WK2

Wow those look amazing. I don't want my GC to look like it's bro'd out and these seem to look well done and clean. Nice work on the Jeep Huckercory.
