Angry What Happened Was...

Being that the decision to do this trail run was done in haste, I forgot to check to see if Mosquito Pass is open. We could only get to the first set of mining ruins, beyond that the trail is snowpacked.

So we turned around and went to the Forest Service office in Fairplay, CO and was informed that Tincup Pass is open. So off we went...
Stopped breifly in St. Elmo

And a few miles up the trail found this.

Those rat-bastards at the forest service mis-informed us. The road is still quite snowpacked.
Looking further up the mountain the trail crosses, there is still a lot of snow present. Looks as if it will be another 3-4 weeks before Tincup is passable.

So we turned back, aired up, and went home. Normally we would have attempted to try another trail but by the time we got back to highway there was only a couple oh hours of daylight left.

Re: What Happened Was...

Too bad the trip was cut short, but you still got some nice pictures.

Re: What Happened Was...

At least you got some dirt/scenery! I've got Mosquito on the "to do" list mid July. The "gulches" outside of Divide are open to get a early season fix.

Thanks for posting. Great pictures. Too bad the trails weren't open.
