LOL no its not. end of story. worst argument on your part ever, like said above QD was available in the WK, hydraulic compared to electronic. like i said an overland equipped WJ vs an overland equipped WK, no contest. will a WK keep up, its probable depending on the driver. but at the end of the day WJ will come out on top. lighter, more nimble, same tcase (minus the fact its electronic), same armor with the addition of factory rock rails.. no brainer man.

I used to have a stock 4.7 HO... My buddies stock 5.9 would blow me away.

Lol dont get me wrong, it wasnt like racing a lambo or anything, haha he didnt blow me away that bad. Id guess in a 1/4 mile he would have been at least a car length or two ahead of me though. And there is just something awesome about seeing an old, rusty, "brick" shaped jeep like that hauling ass off the line.

That would be awesome to see...not many out there left that AREN'T old rust-buckets. Maybe that's why he beat you...most of the metal had rusted off and it was lighter? hahahahh

SORRY, NEVER GOT BACK TO THIS THREAD.... ONE THING I CAN'T STAND ON THIS BOARD IS THE SOME OF THE ABSOLUTE IGNORANCE OF THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY, FANBOYISM OF A PARTICULAR MODEL, AND WORST OF ALL COMPLETE CLOSED MINDNESS TO ADVANCEMENTS AND CHANGE. MY FAVORITE IS THE TECHNICAL ARTICLE ON THE LAST LINK ESPECIALLY THE PART THAT TALKS ABOUT THE WK HAVING ABOUT AN INCH MORE TRAVEL THAN THE WJ.
STOCK FOR STOCK THE WK IS SUPERIOR TO THE WJ IN EVERY WAY AND THE WJ BOYS WHO CAN'T HANDLE THAT SOUND AS PATHETIC AS THE WK BOYS THAT TRY TO SAY THE WK IS BETTER THAN THE WK2 ... THE WK2 IS SUPERIOR TO ALL AND IS WITHOUT A DOUBT THE BEST GRAND CHEROKEE JEEP HAS EVER BUILT! THANKS FOR PLAYING THOUGH PAROXYSYM!!!

Well, after reading all this I have to add my 2 cents. LaerdoX, your come off as a TOTAL WK Fanboi, which you claim you can't stand - LOL

All the stats and numbers (on paper) that people puke up mean absolutely nothing in a real face-2-face comparison. Of all the uni-body Jeeps, I have had an XJ, a few ZJ's, a couple WJ's and now a WK1. My XJ was by far the most capable OFFROAD after a lot of work. The ZJ, well kind sucked, the 5.9L is nice but not really all that better that the 5.2L.

Now between the WJ and WK, the WJ (in real world, not on paper or some web stat) was BY FAR the best uni-body, 4-door Jeep for use as a DD, weekend racer, and hard core offroader all in one. While the WK is a wee bit more cushy as a DD it needs a lot of work to come even close to the WJ offroad, and performance wise a 4.7L WJ vs a 4.7L WK it might be even, but a 4.7L H.O. vs a HEMI, even stock the WJ wins. The 4.7L H.O. will beat that old 5.9L also. I had a CAI, 3" Kolak, Fastman TB and some other misc on mine and it was WAY WAY quicker/faster than my 5.7L WK I have now.

My old WJs:

'01 Limited 4.7L:

with 35's

with 33'

'04 Overland 4.7L H.O.:

and for fun, my last XJ:

Problem is that's your opinion... That's called subjective.... That's why we need stats and facts on paper because that is objective. Technology shows bud. It's called evolution. Each generation makes improvements over the previous and I'll be the first to admit the wk2 is superior to the wk. I really like my wk for subjective reasons which is why I keep it but I'm not too childish to admit the wk2 is the better or is the best grand Cherokee to date. The wk handles better, rides better, has more wheel travel, has updated tcase that responds faster, is safer those are facts. Nice try though. Thanks for playing.
