Re: WK lifts- OME vs. 2.25 RR

some people are fine with spending 500-600 on a cheap spacer lift and bilstiens (that void warranty due to the lift by the way) but personally it makes more sense to spend the extra couple hundred on the ome and still have the shocks/struts warranteed not to mention a much higher caliber lift. i like my daystar lift and its all fine and dandy as long as my stock shocks/struts are okay, but if i could do it over (or once i need to replace my shocks/struts) i would go with old man emu.

Re: WK lifts- OME vs. 2.25 RR

Micalef,

Can you send me the precise parts list that you used on your OME lift kit? And where you purchased it from.

Did you have it installed or did you do it yourself? Any other guidance or suggestions are appreciated.

Does anyone know a 4x4 shop in South Jersey that could do the install on this?

Thanks,

BobSgt

Re: WK lifts- OME vs. 2.25 RR

Im also planning to install some lift (probably OME) and bigger tires. OME lift will not provide any advantage to tire size, because when flexing off road tire will travel up to exactly same point, as with no lift. With spacer-type lift tire will not flex as high, and this can provide some advantage to increase the size.

So, what will be maximum tire size with OME lift (= with no lift)? Will 265/65R17 fit if rim offset is 35mm?

I ordered rims with 35mm offset, original Ronin II rims on WH (European model) have 50,8mm offset.

Sorry for bad English, it is not my native language.

In short: 265/70-17. With 35 mm ET no spacers needed. OME lift(HD) in reality is ~3" lift. Max tire size is about 285 but then pinch weld mod is required. I have OME HD + 265/70-17 Cooper Discoverer tires+30 mm spacer without any mod to the pinch weld. There is no rubbing noticeable.

Thanks.

I do not know how deep the pinch weld under the fender is, but I guess you trimmed your fender back from the front tire?

Measured from my current tire at least 1/2 trimming will be needed to the fender behind front wheel when using 265/70R17. I guess OME HD lift will easily flex to the same position where the tire is with no lift and no flexing?

265/70R17 Cooper Discoverer STT have narrow tread 21cm, exactly same as my current 235/65R17 Nokian, this explains why you do not have rubbing.

There seems to be huge difference on tread width / section width proportions on different tires. Problem is that not many tire makers bother to inform tread with.

Pinch weld seems to be just behind the fender, so it is not possible to just reshape the fender. I finally found what people do to the WK pinch weld: http://www.jeepsunlimited.com/forums...d.php?t=481896
