Re: WK2 Lower Front Guard

Hey Guys,

We had our test fitting on Saturday and I'm happy to report the WK2 Lower Front Guard is very close.

We're making some tweaks to the corner pieces, corner brackets and ACC Camera Guard so they fit a bit better behind the lower front fascia. We're planning to extend the corner bracket a bit further back so the windshield washer bottle is fully protected. We're also making a few changes to make installation a bit easier.

I expect to have the next prototype before our Weekend Wheeling trip to LCMP. Just in time to give it some really good off-road testing.

Cheers,
Bill

Re: WK2 Lower Front Guard

Definitely interested, I took the lower fascia for some off road in sand dunes and the front is very exposed...so would seriously consider buying this protection. You can see the pics of my JGC without the lower fascia in my recent posts.
Rgds and looking forward to some more news.

Re: WK2 Lower Front Guard

Bill,

Thanks for the pic. However, without the bumper cover to support the felt fender lining, what's stopping it being dragged against the wheel at highway speeds or during water crossings?

Re: WK2 Lower Front Guard

Hi Bill,

Any idea on when the final product might be available ?, mine is a Limted 2014, Grand Cherokee and like I said before would be interested in trying it, last time I went off roading I took the lower fascia off and was a little bit worried about how expsed everything was on the low/front end of my JGC.
Here in the pc its already very dirty but you can see how it looks without any protection, the radiator, some hoses, the water fluid tank, etc.
Rgds. and keep me/us updated.

Hey Bob,

The felt fender lining is held in place primarily by the OEM Belly Pan or (if you've upgraded) our WK2 Sump Protection Plate, neither of which are installed in this photo. On the Chief WK2 we attach the felt fender lining to the inside of the Sump Protection Plate which really keeps it out of the way when off-road.

We're looking at extending the corner piece back a bit more, to further protect the windshield washer bottle. If so, we might add another spot to attach the fender lining.

Cheers,
Bill

Hi Victor,

It looks like it will be available before the holidays. Having said that, we do things a bit differently than other companies and are more focused on getting all the details right, than hitting any specific date.

Based on our last test fitting we've made some updates to a few parts, to improve strength, fit-n-finish as well as ease of installation. I think this will be our last round of revisions. I'll be taking the latest revision out for off-road testing Nov 14-15-16. If all goes well, we'll send it off for production soon after.

Cheers,
Bill

Hi Victor,

I've added you to our list of people who are interested. You'll get an email when the product is officially released.

Cheers,
Bill

Or you could do what they do in Silicon Valley and say, "Availability? Real soon now!"

Re: WK2 Lower Front Guard

I had a look at the front of a Porsche Cayenne the other day. It is every bit as exposed as the Jeep. I wouldn't be taking it off road even if I could afford one. Imagine the cost of getting stick through a Porsche radiator.
