WK2 Rear Bumper Guard

Bill,
I started this thread to cover your upcoming product. Apologies for stealing your thunder.

We're currently manufacturing the 1st prototype and will begin testing it in the field very soon.

Cheers,
Bill
A few comments:
  1. Be carefull not to create an air scoop or worse, a mud scoop. The existing rear bumper cover is a huge air scoop.
  2. This would be a great platform for the attachment of Anderson plugs and trailer plugs. I doubt it would be feasible to provide mounting holes for every variation out there. My vote is for an 175A Anderson plug and a Narva 7-pin large round trailer plug. Perhaps also a socket for caravan reversing cameras.
  3. For visual appeal and a bit of aerodynamics you could consider making it look like a rear diffuser, see The Physics of Diffusers: How to Make a Car Really Suck Feature Car and Driver

Re: WK2 Rear Bumper Guard

Came back from Mungo National Park. Hosed off the sticky red mud under and over the car then put it through a car wash with under-body spray. A couple of months later, the car was in the drive-way. We had a bit of rain over night. I noticed a bit of red mud on the ground under the rear bumper. I gave the bumper a bit of a kick as one does and half a bucket of red mud fell out.
