Re: Mario's New Daily Driver

Yep! W124 is 1986-1995 E class cars. They were preceded by the W123 (1976 to 1985) and proceeded by the W210 (1996-2002). The W124's are honestly some of the best cars that MB built as far as reliability/design.

I'd love to get my hands on a W124 diesel. More refined with more creature comforts than the W123 diesels, but much less reliability problems than the W210 diesels.

I could talk about MB forever.

Hell yeah bro, I feel the richest man in the world when it comes to my family . And the poorest man in the world when it comes to $ . So I guess I'm in the middle class...?

Thanks for the MB lesson bro .
My buddy next door to my shop works on mostly MB and other European cars, he told me the same thing that this model was built like a tank, that those motors are very reliable.

Hey.. I have seniority over you so that doesn't apply to me . For that suggestion I can have you banned thou .

J/K bro, here are some pics, took them with my cell so the quality is not the greatest. Tomorrow if it's nice and sunny I'll take some more pics with my better camera.

BTW, I'm not done yet, 2 full days working on the exterior alone (15 hours so far), tomorrow I'll get to the interior . Ohh and I spent hours just taking out those pin stripes alone, sucks. Now it looks so much better without the pin stripes.

Here's how the paint looked after I washed it. You don't want to know how bad it looked before I washed it, it was really filthy.

Look how flat... The whole car was like that.

Yeah that's the rusted mark of a razor blade that was left on top of the roof, ughhh...

Look how flat from the oxidation the paint looked. No reflection...

Here's more like the first pic Joe posted, after one pass of compound on one half of the hood alone. Can you tell wish side .

Re: Mario's New Daily Driver

Re: Mario's New Daily Driver

I'm surprised you're here on the boards and not passed out on the shop floor with the smell of that chemical you were using to take the stripes off.

LOL, I had to wear a mask after you left .
I'm surprised I'm here too because I am so tired right now is not even funny . But I had to give you guys an update with pics or I was going to get banned according to quack quack .

BTW, that chemical is called thinner, it worked great thou... After I took off the pin stripes with the heat gun I had to use that to clean up the mess that was left behind, and no goo-gone didn't work as good as this super duper thinner I have .

OK, here are the steps I used (so far) to do this car ...
Washed
Clayed
Compound
D151 All in one
#26 wax

Re: Mario's New Daily Driver

NICE looking car Mario. Nothing better than riding down the road looking at the three-pointed star.

I know I've said it before but I LOVE THE W124 body style. Is that a brown interior?
