Time and patience is key.

Re: 05-07 projectors and PS request

This seems like a good project to do on the side, a little at a time. It doesn't seem too difficult, just time consuming.

Re: 05-07 projectors and PS request

Well I had to delete my message....I fricked it all up, so Lemme try again. The biggest problem is aiming. First, I took the headlight out, mounted it up to a fixed jig and fired it up with a battery. Then I marked the stock cutoff. Making sure the projector is mounted straight, bolt it up tight. Make sure the cutoff it in the same place. this will insure that the highbeams are aim properly too. Ya don't want perfectly aimed HIDS and highs that are up in the trees somewhere. .....and if you dont seal'em up good you'll get fogging. On cold nites, I will get fogging in my right headlight...... but they still look and work great. Now I want upgrade to some acura projectors....and rethink the way they are mounted within the stock headlight. Right now, I have the V3 projectors from my old WJ headlights. We'll see!! The projectors were $125 and I've spent about $100 in materials. Ofcourse, there is nothing like factory.....after seeing Fabian's 08 front fascia swap.....ooooohhhh mmann here we go!!

That's what would irritate me, aiming. The slightest nudge could make such an impact. I'm not sure I'd have the patience to take on a project like this. Just not interested enough I guess.

I'd like to see some pics of your work though!

OH, stop it LOL, Get yourself some extra headlights and you'll have plenty of patience. Lemme tell ya, it's damn close, but my mistake was not "fixing" the rig, and eyeballing the cutoff. I guess if I were to do it over, I'd go with the 08 upgrade, but I am so way into my retrofit, it wouldn't be cost effective. Why not make my retrofit factory perfect. I guess its just how much your willing to spend. Birds go cheep, cheep, cheep around me so to each his own! Good Luck Matt, B happy to help ya!

Yeah, at this point I'm convinced the '08 lamps would be the better route for me to go, LOL.

I still want pics of your setup once you get them sorted!

Re: 05-07 projectors and PS request

I'd love to see some pics as well and maybe a bit more explanations of the process including what projectors you used, which ones you considered, how did you close the assembly and if you suffered any condensation issues ...

As for the 08 retrofit, is it just me or is the going price for a pair around 800 ... have been checking ebay and car-parts but cannot seem to find anything cheaper.

Re: 05-07 projectors and PS request

Had a headlight assembly with a chipped cover and could not resist. Stoped by the scrap yard and picked up for 8 euros a 2,5" and 3" bi-xenon projector to see how it would work out and what was the level of involvement. The idea was to put the 3" in he high and the 2,5 in the low and end up with a dual bi-xenon set up.

In short the conclusion is that I probably will pass but here are some pics in case it helps you guys make up your own mind.

I am also not sure of the overall design and how I like the round shroud in the WK design. There seems to be another (quite involved) DIY way that could turn out better

In any cases here are the pics ...

This took me around 2 hours with a dremel, a lot longer than I would have expected.

With the 2,5"one in the low

With the 3" in the low

I am sure that a little research would come up with smaller projectors but these (Audi S4 and Nissan Xterra) do turn out to be quite big and there is an issue of closing the assembly.

Re: 05-07 projectors and PS request
