Re: 07 tranny issue, I think!

There's a bunch of good information in this thread but I'll just agree and say that this is normal. We have transmissions that were build for the Dodge Ram, they're tanks, but they're not perfect. You should change the transmission fluid at 50k and 100k.

Even with the tune? It's so much more noticeable with a tune in

I literally get one better MPG average/tank with MDS on so over 18 gallons that's an extra 18 miles which is one commute day for me but on the road trips to the mountains, cruise control paired with MDS makes for a very efficient HEMI engine.

The DashHawk does have a PID for the MDS activation but, IMO, a light is the better way to go. I have one on mine. Where mine is mounted is much easier to see and you don't have to take your eye off the road to see it. Here's a thread that tells you almost anything you may want to know about the MDS. How to install the light is referenced in Post No. 14 of the thread: http://jeepgarage.org/showthread.php?t=17136 If you have any questions about it, I'd be happy to attempt to answer them for you.
Jeepgcoman I am a concerned about the DashHawk.. Everywhere I call or stop to check they tell me the DashHawk is discontinued... I have no problem buying and using something old.. (I am married with children..) but what kind of continuous support are they going to have for this product. I seriously do not want to throw down 3 bills for something that will soon not be supported.. Any idea if this is true? I know that this is very very similar to the Edge. Is it being replaced??? It seems strange that a local MSD rep says they are not available!! I appreciate any info anyone has on this subject.

Re: 07 tranny issue, I think!

JC, I don't know where you're getting your info., but here's where I got mine: http://www.dashhawk.com/ They are a subsidiary of MSD Ignition Products. If they're not available, it's news to me and I think they should shut down their web site. I've had one in my LX for over 4 years now and one in my WK for about 16 months. I've never had a day's trouble out of either of them, and never needed support. There are some newer competitors out there now, but their price is nearly double. I must admit that on my next vehicle, I will probably look at them, despite the cost. I know the technology is continually changing. Let us know if you can get to the bottom of this.

Edit: I just pulled the web site up and I didn't see a place to purchase it on the site anymore. You may be right. I am going back and look around some more.

Re: 07 tranny issue, I think!

And Jeepgcoman I noted when I was at Chux Trux today the new Edge looks suspiciously similar, dare I say identical to the dashhawk. The guy there even said they just gave the Edge a new color display. Yea of course I was at some other big retailers. But the guy at chux and the one from O'reileys called their MSD guys. I am sold on the idea of the dashhawk so maybe I need to research what else does the same. I do like the thought of a color screen. Just not sure they are worth double.. Oh and Chux Trux even has the SC programmer instock!! If I can figure out the monitor part I know where to go to pull the trigger on that as well. Don't tell the wife!!!

Re: 07 tranny issue, I think!

With better technology the color display and more graphics are starting to become more prominent. I know Walt was looking into a different type and had done quite a bit of research. Walt, if you're around, let us know your thoughts.

If you can get your hands on a DashHawk (Series II) for cheap, I would still highly recommend it, based solely on my past/present experience. Maybe the MSD folks are going to be coming out with a new improved model too.

I originally started out with a ScanGauge on my LX: http://www.dodgetalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=57235&highlight= and then graduated to the DashHawk because it had a larger screen, was smaller in size and many more features. You can see how I mounted them on the WK and the LX here: http://jeepgarage.org/showthread.php?t=12708
