Im new to this forum and have researched in earlier threads about this. I recently purchased a JET performance module and it has increases mpg and throttle response greatly! They recomend using a 180 degree thermostat. Any ideas on where to find one? I have seen on other forums that people have found them for the 3.7L.

Any help would be great!

JET makes a chip for all dodge/chrysler/jeep vehicles. It go in between your ecu plug and your ecu. helps a lot with low end torque and about +1 mpg.

I'll try and find that poster of who had a 180 deg thermo. and try to upload a pic of the one i have now

I've seen 3.7 posters on other forum with 180 tstats.

It could have been an older model though. I know they make a 180 for the 4.0

Find a 180* in a certain SIZE. Not application. Tstat is a Tstat.

So what are the benefits of running a 180* tstat in the 3.7?

I have a theory thaat the 3.7 tstat is the same or similar to the 4.7. they share a few items from thr 4.7 cooling system...so the tstat may be one. The easiest thing to do for a 3.7 owner is to go to an auto parts store and ask for a tstat for the 3.7 and the 4.7 and compare them...

use your brains guys

Yeah that's what I figured, just thought I would check to see if anyone else had any luck.

Yes, the Hypertech programmer will adjust the fan settings.

I just need to find out what the optimal decrease in temp should be set to? I believe the stock T Stat is 195 degrees(but not positive), so was planning on running it at 180 - 185.

Well the idea behind it is the cooler the better, but some have said that doing that won't let the engine reach optimal operating temp and can hurt the engine.

Who knows, I'm no mechanic. Others seem to be using them with no problem

It's fine. 180 stat will still exceed 180 at low speeds, etc.
