Is there a particular reason I'd have wanted the PCM updated? Version history posted somewhere? It was verified to not have any outstanding recalls.
1. Welcome and congratulations on your WK.
2. The PCM's are periodically updated to correct spurious DTC's and MIL illuminations, or just to improve certain performance anomalies. Here's the link for the WK Technical Service Bulletins (TSB's): http://www.wkjeeps.com/wk_tsb.htm
It may turn out that none of these conditions plague yours. The TSB's are advice for correcting customer-reported issues and are not mandatory unless a specific report is made. The dealer's StarScan can tell you the version of the latest flash update. If they did it, there should be a tag under the hood by the emissions tag telling you the upgrade version, date and authority for the change. I think that an EPA rule since it affects emissions (in theory).
3. The '08's had very few recalls. You can check with your VIN at: https://owners.jeep.com/sub/Pages/Ow...52F&Source=%2F
. Look in the lower left hand part of the page for the box to enter your VIN.
Many good miles with your new toy....
