Wow I wish my panels were anywhere near that price on car-part.com . I glanced through to no avail. I'd be lucky to score a single panel for the price you paid for all four! Anyways, I've already paid the dealer, just waiting for them to finally get all my parts in and have them installed. Plus, if they break again within the next 12 months, then they'll be replacing them again for free lol.

Re: 2005 WK Limited with broken interior door panels

Your post got me curious about possible solutions.

Have a look here: http://www.jgreer.com/silicone-mold-making.htm
and here: http://www.jgreer.com/casting-resin.htm

If you have one good part, it seems relatively easy and cheap (with practice) to make a mold of the part and then recreate that part with PVC-like polymer casting resin.

My 05 GC Limited did this too. The drivers door panel has been replaced by the dealer already and it cost about $6XX.XX for it. I can't believe this is a problem on a $40K luxury SUV.

Re: 2005 WK Limited with broken interior door panels

I've paid out $684 total and will eventually have all four panels replaced for that price. The details of my battle are on my Youtube video and the edmunds forum that I linked previously. I'm having the third panel (finally in the correct color) installed tomorrow. Jeep corporate is updating me every month or so and still trying to find a front right door panel to replace mine with (they're apparently still on national back-order after 7 months)

Re: 2005 WK Limited with broken interior door panels

My 06 has 3 of the 4 broken. I purchased the vehicle this way and didn't realize the monster price to repair it until afterwords. I've found a solution for mine, but it most likely won't work for you because my door handles are fulling functional. I haven't found a color I like for a permanent solution yet. Pics below of the temp solution until I find a better color...

The above picture doesn't give you the best idea of the color, so here's another picture of the same color with a different variety of other colors you can compare to:

Re: 2005 WK Limited with broken interior door panels

This won't work if the handle is dangling from the door panel.

Which is why I said: "...it most likely won't work for you..."

EDIT: This will solve anybody who has fully functioning door handles problems. There's no longer a chance of cutting yourself on the broken plastic and there's no longer any threat of the plastic falling inside the door panel and rattling.

Re: 2005 WK Limited with broken interior door panels

So the final solution to this is wait and see if jeep recalls?
