Re: 2006 4.7L Cold Air Intake or Cat Back

I think the K&N 63 series is the one that deletes the stock airbox? Which is what I went with for my 05' 4.7. Make sure you get the one that deletes the airbox, the gains might not be much more but I am sure there is some and it looks better IMO. =) I put my intake on a day before I threw a Magnaflow on and the intake alone made a huge difference in sound. If I where you I would get the intake and just a Magnaflow muffler and have it thrown on for like 40 bucks, I think I paid 105 shipped for my stainless 18in magnaflow.

I have heard from a bunch of people that the only exhaust system that comes with larger diameter pipes is the MBRP with a 3in pipe, it's been all over this board that the magnaflow catback is the same size as stock? Either way it comes with the larger 22in muffler, I wanted to go with a smaller 18in for more sound. so depending on how loud you want it that may effect your decision.

Re: 2006 4.7L Cold Air Intake or Cat Back

i have a 4.7 007 i have the K&N 63 and the Magnaflow catback.

i did the exhaust first. then the intake.

results are decent. i feel like i need a resonator though. the exhaust has some drone to it.

I have some drone too, the 05 4.7's didnt come with a resonator on the factory exhaust either, its not too bad when im driving alone but it can be a pain when im trying to talk to someone in the car.

I also have just the magnaflow muffler and the CAI and whenever I cruise at about 2krpms I get a drone but it's really nothing bad. I don't find it too bothersome as I just talk a bit louder.

Sorry to hijack the post. That's great Lewi, make sure you post up some videos of it when you get it installed man!

You can get it thru jeep garage vendor air ram. Its not a chip, but a flashing tool. It flashes the stock computer(s). It's super easy to use if you can read and follow very simple directions that it prompts you. IE turn ignition to off... turn to on.. do not start engine. that stuff. Its got a ton of options as well. If you have a Hemi the SCT from what I read is a better tuner all around, but you'd need to know what your doing with that tool. Superchips Flashpaq is a good beginners flash tool.

K&N and Magnalow are good products you can have. They are cheap and durable.

I would suggest you go for K&N. It's cheap, good looking and it's durable. Tested by many users.
