2008 Nav Radio Problem

I have a 2008 Grand Cherokee Overland with the nav radio. It shuts off then turns back on every couple of minutes. Can anyone help me with this problem.

It is not under warranty I bought it used.

Are you sure you connected the power in the back tight and secure?

Second one might be fuse, and my last but not least might the unit itself.

Try doing this first though, disconnect both terminals of your car battery, wait bout a good 10 minutes then re-connect see if the problem goes away

Re: 2008 Nav Radio Problem

Robpp - I also have an 08 GC Overland... I haven't had any issues with the nav/radio unit... but you mentioned software updates... how would I go about getting those updates and how do you install/download them to the unit?

Thanks!
Craig

What radio do you have (RER?)

Re: 2008 Nav Radio Problem

I had the same problem with a 2008 I purchased 3 weeks ago. The previous owner had never upgraded the MyGig software. I deleted everything from the hard drive first and then applied the software updates:

http://mofv.com/mygig/BBS/viewforum.php?f=9

Here's a good thread on how to do it and which order you should upgrade the software. There is an important fix for the hard drive that could be the cause of the constant rebooting:

http://mofv.com/mygig/BBS/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1992

I started my upgrades at version 9.561 and then followed the recommendations. No problems since.

Thats how mine started once on a 800 mile trip then more frequently. Finally every couple of minutes.

The software updates fixed it.
