Re: 2009 Overland Rear End Problem

Well I got the GC back and they replaced the entire differential assembly. $1987.00 worth and it was covered under the extended warranty that came with the Jeep. Another 300 miles and it would have been out of my pocket. As it is, I only had a $200 deductable and got a free rental car for 4 days...

While it was in the shop I had them redo the N23 flash as per the STAR bulletin that was released on 3/3/2014 and I have my 4-lo back again... We'll see how long it lasts this time.

Re: 2009 Overland Rear End Problem

My Dad had to have the entire rear end on his 05 WK 5.7L Limited QDII rebuilt as well. Right past 100k on the clock if I remember. The dealer definitely screwed up the torque settings on it though and he ended up trading it in for a WK2 a few months later.

That being said, my matching 5.7L WK QDII Limited hasn't had the issue yet and I'm passing 115k on the clock. Might just be different driving styles.

I have no way of knowing how it was driven prior to my son buying it for me in mid Jan. He kept it for 2 weeks (one week he was TDY somewhere) and he brought it over when he got back stateside. BTW, had 126,000 miles on it when he bought it.

1st owner had it for 3 years if I remember the CarFax report correctly and had it serviced every 3000+ miles for oil and suspension maintanence. 2nd owner had it almost a year, I think as I was glacing through the service schedules and it was in the shop for oil changes at about the same frequency. I have no other information regarding any repairs or replacements that were done (such at service schedules, etc.)

With the number of miles and it coming out of Ohio I have a feeling that it was used by a salesman or some one else that did a lot of traveling. And maintained it very well. Doubt it was used for a dragster

At any rate I feel comfortable that over all it is mechanically sound and with TLC will last me a long time. It better because I figure this is the last vehicle I'll own in this lifetime
