3.7l cai

Some where along my research (read: Googling) I saw that someone installed an eBay 3.7L CAI made for another Chrysler vehicle on their 3.7L WK. Anyone done this? I'm looking to pick up a cheap eBay CAI and put on a better airfilter.

Also, I've read that the CAI will add some MPG's. Can anyone share their experiences? I'm trying to pick up a few MPG's so my future lift doesn't hurt to much.

Re: 3.7l cai

I bought a kit for a Dodge truck 3.7 off of Ebay for cheap.

Some cutting and it was done. I can send you pics.

The only problem is that it got real hot, so I went with oem plus K&N drop in.

Re: 3.7l cai

You get what you pay more in most cases. I got my K&N for $260 with shipping on eBay. I originally had stock with K&N drop on and you can really tell the difference between the two!

You won't really see better mpg with only the CAI do everything in my sig and you'll be looking at 26 highway

Re: 3.7l cai

Here are the pics. Sorry not a full write up.

Things to note. After pics, I added a bracket from the radiator support to the first silicone coupler. The photos are out of order too.

Re: 3.7l cai

Thanks for the pics. Looks like it shouldn't take too much work to get one of those eBay specials to work. However, now I'm concerned about water getting in. I still play in puddles--drive my Jeep into them on purpose. Might need to pick one--CAI or play in puddles?

Re: 3.7l cai

you could shorten the tube and rotate where the stock box was.....but now youre sucking in hot engine air.

The whole water and hot air delema is why I went with the factory setup.

Re: 3.7l cai

The K&N part#57-1545 setup comes with a heat shield and still draws air from the lower fender well. I just modified mine to replace the upper plenum box with a Liberty upper intake pipe.

I have a K&N 57-1545 sitting on my kitchen table right now. Just need to find time to install it now...

Re: 3.7l cai

Put the heat shield together first. THAT is the PITA. Then it will all just be PnP

Re: 3.7l cai

while your at it, i would highly recommend you replace the hardware they gave you with stainless steel. Most of the hardware i installed started to rust out in less than 8 months. I called K&N and they wound up sending me and entire new hardware kit for FREE. Once i got it in the mail i went to my local hardware store and got all the equivalent hardware in stainless... only cost me $20. Since then zero rust.
