Re: 392 Stroker Dyno'd! 500lb-Ft Tq?!

It was around $9,400 for them to modify my hydrolocked 5.7L to what it is now. I would imagine it could be done for less if you shop around. Plus i had several other parts that had to be replaced due to the damage from the hydrolocking.

Here are a few pics of my soon to be exhaust, one on each side, should sound pretty good with the new high flow cats and assuming the shorty headers fit The side skirts have just a spray painted piece of cardboard on them for the fit. I took the template to a sheetmetal shop this morning, so it should be done soon. Then i'll use bondo or JB weld to blend it in. Sand the whole thing, and then spray the whole side skirt with some gray bed liner. Finally a symmetrical length exhaust system!

Re: 392 Stroker Dyno'd! 500lb-Ft Tq?!

Better be careful with hackjob exhausts. My beast split hers this afternoon. On the highway, nailed the gas, tranny kicked down and BANG! Pipe split in half right off the drivers side header.

No more clamp jobs for me. Now everything gets welded solid.

Re: 392 Stroker Dyno'd! 500lb-Ft Tq?!

Did you have a clogged cat or something? That really sucks! I just read about a magnaflow system cracking today as well

http://www.jeepsunlimited.com/forums...d.php?t=527265

The headers are brand new Edelbrock shorties for a charger, so they should be of good quality. I'll prob only use clamps in one spot as i want it to be somewhat easy to remove. I have the headers already, the cats and muffler should arrive Thurs, and hopefully the rest misc items arrive Friday. I plan to do the headers Friday night and then head to the muffler shop Saturday morning to finish it up. Ill take plenty of pics once its done!

Re: 392 Stroker Dyno'd! 500lb-Ft Tq?!

I'd go with ball flanges on the headers so the mid pipes are adjustable for fitting and from there you can go with the V band clamps and lap joint torc tite clamps. Make sure you go with 304 stainless steel and you will have no problems.

lap joint torc tite clamps

Re: 392 Stroker Dyno'd! 500lb-Ft Tq?!

The headers have the male side of the ball socket already, so i ordered the female end. Although the headers have a 2 bolt flange and the socket i ordered has a 3 bolt flange so im hoping i can get a 2 bolt locally. I hope these connections work

Also instead of relocating or extending an O2 sensor, i plan to just put both post cat sensors on the passenger side pipes. The post cat sensors are just for th eengine ight basically right? I think i just thread jacked myself! lol

Probably. AJ told me to replace them back in March, which I still haven't done. He though perhaps that was why my power was dropping off at around 5700rpm instead of puling all the way to 6100.

I've already been through the MagnaFlow. My truck absolutely would not keep the pipes in one piece. Even after welding the pipe joints, she would keep finding something else to split.

lol Well as long as it's the pipes and not anything further up like a gasket or valve! I ordered the Pypes high flow cats for $189, mainly because of their size. I think the center diameter is only 3". I also looked into the Thunderbolt high flow converters (see below). They start at about $40 each, they have a heavy duty version for like $50each which may be worth the $$ to try.

The post cat sensors are just for emissions. They will throw a code and an engine light though. The post cats sensors can be turned off with a CMR tune.

I have no cats and disabled the rear O2's since they no longer serve a purpose.

Do you have emissions testing? If so place them where they are supposed to go. If not you don't even need to install cats or worry about the rear O2's. The cats are a huge restriction.

Either way you will be ok.
