Re: 392 Stroker Dyno'd! 500lb-Ft Tq?!

Cool thanks! I do have emissions which is why i went ahead with the high flow cats. I've heard some people get the engine light with hi flow cats, so i'll keep my fingers crossed. I just dont want the engine light, so ill prob put both secondary sensors after the passenger side cat. If i end up with an engine light i'd prob try that spark plug fouler trick. If i turn off the secondary O2 sensors with the CMR tune but still have high flow cats would i pass emissions? I believe some places use an actual sniffer while others just hook up to the OBDII port.

The stockers are. HiFlows block minimal flow, plus they keep enough backpressure to keep velocity up for torque production. I would never recommend to anybody to remove them completely unless they're running an undersized exhaust to keep flow velocity up.

A few of the ol CTS-V guys i used to run around with went catless and it caused nothing but problems for them. Mixing that with the smell and trying to pass emissions, etc.. I figured i'd just stay legal Plus with the headers and total length of what the exhaust will be i could use a bit of back pressure, that's why i went with 2.5" everywhere instead of 3", (well that and the need for every bit of extra space!) But by looking into the CAT you can definitely see how a stock one would likely be a huge restriction and im excited to see what difference all this will make in sound and feel. Hopefully i'll be getting the dyno tune soon after it's all done

Re: 392 Stroker Dyno'd! 500lb-Ft Tq?!

My cats are only for looks, and I have had no lights and I have a short- open exhaust. I may have lost some TQ but it seems to do well.

He must be out in the shop, i cant get a hold of him! It shouldnt take him long at all to make 2 or 4, was going to just have him double the qty just in case. He actually doesnt even know what theyre for lol. When i go to pick them up im going to have him put that slight bend in it to line up with the fender flare and then probably tack on a couple pieces of "all thread" so i can drill through the plastic and use some nuts to connect this to the side skirt. I'll probably use a strong adhesive as well but would like to have at least a couple bolts through it.

Re: 392 Stroker Dyno'd! 500lb-Ft Tq?!

Sounds cool man. He's going to make me 2 sets of what i gave him. He said it's $50 for 1 set or $50 for 2 sets, so glad i called him. Obviously its not a lot of material, just set up time. So either way assuming they work out maybe someone else will pick up the other set, if nothing else ill have 2 attempts to make it work now. Boniomario im sure yours wont be much bigger so maybe he can make you a couple sets of your design for the same $$. I just want mine to appear as stock as possible and wanted the exhaust tip to fit in the flat width of the fender flare area if that makes sense? Even with the flare, the side skirt covers about half the height of the hole in the metal so ill use a larger hole saw through that so its far enough away not to melt, i hope! I have some connections and some heat shielding coming from Jegs tomorrow. The mufflers and cats arrived at my office today and of course ive already been laying in the parking lot seeing how it'll all fit I just cut up a file folder when laying mine out and sprayed it black to get a good idea of what'll look like. You should do the same, then just take the cardboard to the sheet metal shop and wa'la!

Re: 392 Stroker Dyno'd! 500lb-Ft Tq?!

Well i couldnt wait to start on it and now ill be having my girlfriend drive me to work in the morning! I had to call it quits after about 5 hours of work. My SRT8 exhaust was basically one piece from the manifolds to the axle since they put my cutout where the mid bracket was. So i decided to remove the cross member below the tranny and pull the exhaust in 1 piece. That alone took over an hour. So currently i have the exhuast and 1 manifold removed. I briefly tried to get the header in there but it just barely wont fit in between the starter mount and the firewall. Looks like once i get passed that ill be good to go. So far ive pulled the drivers front wheel, wheel well, battery, fuse box, front driveshaft, and starter. Man im going to be pretty unhappy if i get this far to find out if wont work! lol Oh wel someone had to try it. The headers are brand new Edelbrock shorties for a charger and i paid a local guy on Craigslist $180 for them, so worst case im sure i could resell them to a Charger guy for $180.

For anyone that thinks Shorty headers arent worth crap, just take a look at the stock manifold next to the header and just tell me there wont be some performance gained! I know long tubes are better but we're talking $180 vs $1300!
