Won't the 2011 SRT8 have the 6.4L?

Well supposedly the 2012 srt8 is rumored to have the 6.4L crate motor. I was just speaking in regard to the 05-i guess now 2010 models, screwin all the other motors and just havin the HEMI on the laredo, ltd and overland.

I mean if fuel efficiency is close enough to the others and it costs less to produce by going with one motor for the 3 trims, then I don't see why not.

Re: 4.7 Dropped for 2010

Jeep claims/epa -

3.7 - 16/21
4.7 05-07'- 15/20; 08'+ 14/19 new ffv design
5.7 - 13/19;

I'm willing to bet the people on this site with the 3.7 get the same mileage as those with the 5.7.

I bet not b/c the people hired to testdrive for the EPA are terrible at maxamizing gas mileage.

Yeah, I know I get about 15.5 MPG and I believe most 3.7's are right around there as well. (keep in mind we can't factor in Joe's MPG - that just throws everything waaayyyy off, lol)

Re: 4.7 Dropped for 2010

Yeah i mean when i was a little lead foot stop and go downtown for a few days straight i was hovering at 9.5-12.7mpg after fill up. If all you do is stop and go with these Jeeps the mileage really is awful. I try not to look at the evic anyhow especially if im always in stop and go. No need to worry about looking at the darn "average mpg".

Same here, I'll look at it every once in a while, but I keep mine on the tire pressure/CT.

I love how politicians complain about gas mileage/prices and are trying to alleviate the problem... well, how about the proper timing of street lights. Seems so simple and can have a huge impact on your MPG's - remember you average ZERO miles per gallon while sitting at a stop light, lol.

Re: 4.7 Dropped for 2010

Absolutely correct but i mean i couldn't see dt chicago or any dt metro chicago area without a stop light every block, lol. Inevitable i guess. Im starting to get a bit...how do you say.. antsy or whatever about these gas prices rising again. Hope its not a "here we go again" situation.

I know 1st hand how fast (or should I say slow) the 4.0 is and I know how bad of gas mileage it gets.

Re: 4.7 Dropped for 2010

The 4.0 was not worth the sacrifice in power for the "make believe" MPGs everyone thought it was capable of. My 5.9 averaged about the same miles per gallon as the '04 4.0 WJ my mom had back in the day. At best maybe she would be 2 MPGs above me on the highway, and that didn't happen very often.

When it comes to more aerodynamic, lighter vehicles such as a car, yeah having a smaller engine will no doubt give you more miles per gallon. But when dealing with large, heavy SUVs, the difference each motor makes is miniscule.
