5.7 Hemi advice!

I came across a 07 or 08 5.7L Hemi for sale. The motor has 14,XXX on it. The guy is selling it because the motor was sumerged for 30 mins or so while the truck was off so he says. I was wondering if it would be worth it to get and rebuild maybe. Anyone know about how much money would needed to rebuild roughly? I guess any advice on this would help! Thanks, Justin.

Re: 5.7 Hemi advice!

you can find 07's that haven't been submerged for around $14k. i'd avoid that one. rebuilding or replacing the motor might be the cheap part. you never know what water damage is going to do the electrical system. wires, sensors, connectors. shop around. you can definitely find an 07 with a hemi for under $15k.

Re: 5.7 Hemi advice!

This is just the motor, and the guy only wants $300 for it. Its not the entire truck.

What are you planning to do with the motor?

Re: 5.7 Hemi advice!

Does anyone know the extent of repairing the motor? Money/hour wise?

Re: 5.7 Hemi advice!

if you have some where to do it. if so it shouldn't be a big deal. If you devoted a bunch of time to it about a week if its bad... i did a 351 rebuild from a short block it took about 5 days... look around online
