5.7 hemi engines

Hi all. I noted on the internet that there are 2 generations of 5.7 hemi engines in the WK Jeep GC, from 2005 to 2008 a 330HP model and from 2009 to 2010 is a 357 HP model with VVT.
How can you easily identify which is which?

Thanks.

Umm probably the egr tube going into the air intake would be the first difference. Then coil packs im pretty sure started with the vvts. Why would you need to know the difference? If you still can't tell the difference look up the model year on the drivers door..

Re: 5.7 hemi engines

Hi thanks for comments.
I was more thinking how can you tell the difference by looking at the engine itself and not the vehicle year model.
Sometimes the early editions of the year model does not contain all the mods and upgrades.
The early 5.7s also had coil packs as far as I know.

Well coil packs was a shot in the dark but you cant just add something form an older 5.7 to get to a VVT one.. so either you have one an older one or you have the VVT in the 09 to 10 models..

Re: 5.7 hemi engines

Easy from the outside unless its an 08.

05-06 have the black plastic (thick as in tall) cladding along the sides. 07 has thin. The 05-06 have the separate rear tails (ie. turn signal and brake light/tail light). 07+ has combo (one bulb).

08+ has the new front end and 6 spoke wheels on all models. Also different shift knob, soft touch interior and dash has white lcd and backlighting vs green on 05-07.

now for the export wk the tails may not be noticeably different but you should be able to narrow it down just from the visual cues on the front end (05-07 vs 08+). as far as the 08 model can't help you there, but I am sure someone will be able to tell you.
