5.7L oil stick

Does the oil dipstick come like a cork screw or does this just happen? I want to make sure i have the right amount of oil since cork screwing it would make it shorter

That's the way they come. Pain in the A$$, IMO.

The tube follows a very tortuous path down to the sump. Twisted shape allows the dipstick to flex in multiple directions on the way in ( -or- out).

As you insert it, hold the top loosely and allow it to "find" its favorite orientation as it goes in.

What I did is mark the side of the handle that faces forward when it is fully inserted. When I re-insert the dipstick, I hold it that way and it goes in more easily.

They are also a PITA to read the oil level!
