It raises the line pressure by ~15-30 PSI and does the same thing that Frank's "resistor" does.....increase clutch clamping pressure. I've also been running the Superchips Advanced Transmission Tuning Application with my custom shift schedules/torque management (along with the Sonnax) for over 40000 miles now, all without issue, and believe me I give mine a liberal workout, daily. Anyone that says not to do mods. to the line pressure/shift schedules/torque management is totally wrong, IMO. If it's done correctly, there should be no problems, and the transmission will work much, much better than the crappy stock settings.

I've also tried the Diablosport trans. tuning (I have both tuners), but didn't care for it, mostly because it only allows for upshift schedule changes to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, and does not allow modification to downshifts or torque managment settings. The SC tuner allows for mods. to all forward gears (up and downshifts), and both light and WOT torque management settings. Every one of my settings are significantly different than stock, and most people probably wouldn't know it was the same transmission.
Would the sonnax line pressure booster help my 09 4.7? I'm running SC 91 perf tune with super chips own trans app shift points.

Re: 545rfe reliability/durability (2010)

I'm just stock and want to stay stock. Down to a paper air-filter. I just want to know if my transmission's days are numbered if I drive this thing like my corvette with a refrigerator on top!

Re: 545rfe reliability/durability (2010)

My experience with the Sonnax has been excellent, and I would recommend it for any 545RFE transmission. I will say that mine worked like crap right at first, probably because the TCM couldn't figure out what was going on. IIRC, it took several days before it settled down. As I said, it along with the ATT App, make it a complete different transmission.

Even if you keep your vehicle stock, IMO, it will benefit you, especially if you drive it like you stole it, as I do. I put the Sonnax in when mine was still stock and then got carried away with the mods.... easy to do, for me anyway. If you drive that way and do nothing to get rid of the stock characteristics, I feel you'll be more apt to encounter problems, especially if your 2010 is anything like the 05-08 units. Do you like the way yours works? Mine, stock, was soggy shifting, jerky, clunky, some banging shifts, erratic downshifts, etc. Now shifts are firm, with none of the previous symptoms, plus I have the downshifts set so it never lugs the engine.....IMO a must with the cam I have in mine.

Mine works just fine. I have driven 6-speeds for the past few years, but this transmission is easy to live with. I shift it with the throttle, so to speak, and we understand each other well. It does what I ask of it. Shifts are just fine for me. It is not a sports car, but rather, an inspiring SUV, is how I look at it.

Thats the same feel I have with mine, just a different transmission. Ihave the W5A580/NAG1. It makes the six feel alive especially hitting it from a roll. Problem is with the long final drive and no second or third prime it takes a little longer getting up depending on how fast im going. It will either down shift or it wont, so I manually shift when out having fun.

Re: 545rfe reliability/durability (2010)

if you want your tranny to last stay on top of your maintenance, change the fluid and filters every 50k. if you want, do a drain and fill every 25k. i was doing that for awhile and it was nice to know i had fresh fluid in my jeep and the tranny was happy. i know this sounds crazy but i was told this would help by a fellow jeeper/tech at a jeep dealer whose wife drives a WJ with 150k or more on the stock 545rfe

Just got the jeep at 70K miles and did it last week. I will do it every 30K even though I don't tow things or offroad.
