5w-30 use of engine oil

Hey guys, i have this 2005 jeep grand cherokee 5.7 liter v8, and i was wondering if 5w-30 is right for my engine to activate the MDS because 5w-20 is not available in my country. Plus in summer it sores to about 110F.

Does your oil cap say 5w-20? if so than you do need it for the MDS. I have heard of damaging effects to those components if not used. you could possibly order the oil in bulk if you had to it would make it a little cheaper.

Re: 5w-30 use of engine oil

It'll work, just not as well. The "swift" Jeep dealer put 10W-30 in mine before I bought it....doing me a favor...NOT. It worked, but very poorly. My guess is that you won't have as much problem in the summer when it's 110 out. Let us know how it works out for you.
