60k mile service on the 07' WK is going to kill me!

Figured I'd take advantage of the long weekend and do some needed maintenance on the 04 and 07 Grands. The 04 was a breeze as all it really needed was an oil change, tire rotation and greasing a handful of zerks. The 07 on the other hand need a lot done as it just rolled over 60k miles. Apparently I ain't as young and agile as I use to be.

So far I've seafoamed the intake and crankcase, changed the oil & filter, changed the front and rear axle lube (wish the back had a drain plug too) and rotated the tires. In the middle of changing the plugs right now with 8 of the 16 finished. Still waiting on the tranny filters and pvc valve from my Jeep guy and they will need done along with changing the tcase fluid. Going to finish off today with a good engine bay cleaning.

I am flat worn out and only about half done.

i did my 60k service over 2 weekends. it is a real killer but it is insane how much the dealer charges for it, you save a fortune doing it yourself.

Re: 60k mile service on the 07' WK is going to kill me!

Finally got all the spark plugs replaced. Those on the passenger side are a lot easier to deal with. I also found it was better to removal all the coil packs at once and then change out the spark plugs. Gives you a little more room to work as you move along. I guess it goes back to the old days of spark plug wires but I always tend to work on one plug at a time. Or in the 5.7L two at a time.

Just an FYI, if you forget to plug one of the electrical connector back into a coil, the HEMI will run like shit!

Just need to work up the will to replace a cv joint boot on the wife's 01' Grand and maybe I'll have a little time to enjoy an hr or two of relaxation before heading back to work tomorrow.

Re: 60k mile service on the 07' WK is going to kill me!

FYI, you will have to redo the spark plugs, as the Hemi only runs properly on the OEM copper Plugs; Platinums, iridiums, etc are not a hot enough spark, as many others found out not long after trying them

Re: 60k mile service on the 07' WK is going to kill me!

Au contra my friend, as I know a few who have installed these exact same plugs in a 5.7L hemi with zero problems. They are not platinums, iridiums, or any other such unobtanium marketing alloy. They are basically the same as the oem or champion plugs.

Thanks for taking the time to warm me but I do believe they will remain in the engine till it turns over 120k miles.

Re: 60k mile service on the 07' WK is going to kill me!

The cleaning and de-greasing was done with autozone brand engine cleaner and a lot of elbow grease. After that I applied a heavy coat of CD-2 engine detailer.
