2 questions for you:
1. why different fluids for the front and rear?
2. how do you clean the inside if you were doing this yourself? tooth brush or something?

Thanks in advance

yes, you can use a tooth brush. just dont use any chemicals or solvents to clean it

I got some service work done at the dealer and they did the fronts for me at cost.. but they were going to charge big time for the rear b/c it was unrelated so I had the rear done somewhere else and they don't have mopar fluids...

It's actually a good thing you brought this thread back.. the AMSOIL fluids plus friction modifier I have in the rear diff are not living up to my standards. From time-to-time I get some chatter in the back that I've never heard prior to using AMSOIL products. If it persists then I'm going to have to call my shop

Re: 60k Service

you do not need friction modifier in a 3.7

Re: 60k Service

TC does not use the same fluid as the diffs. Since you have the 3.7, I'm going to assume you have QTI... which uses ATF+4 in the transfer case.

Cheapest I could usually find M1 75W-140 was $16.99 a quart, I believe at autozone. I think advance wanted like $17.99 or $18.99 a quart.

Re: 60k Service

i bought it at autozone for like $9.99 a qt with a coupon i found online a few months ago. i can still smell that stuff though, yuck. TC uses a different fluid as stated above, i know the 4.7 can only be bought at the dealer, but the 3.7 is common.

Re: 60k Service

While there are different fluids specified for the different tcases put in Jeeps over the years, I don't know that I've ever seen a tcase that used axle lube! That shop was flat out wrong if they told you that the same fluid goes in the tcase and differentials. My suggestion would be to find someplace else to service your Jeep.
