Re: Adding Fogs?

I told my dealer that...he gave me some line about having to update the factory build sheet online...then download the new program for my jeep that has the updated build sheet....yada yada yada.....ended up talking him into doing it for free since i was already paying for the factory remote start and uconnect installed at the same time...he had quoted me 160 to install the fog lights and reprogram.....and 99 just to program....talk about a rip off

There are some dealers that are cool and some that are pricks. My dealer has been very good to me and recently activated my foglights when I decided to use the fogs with the factory wiring and use the harness that belonged to the fogs for the driving lights on my bull bar and they gave me no trouble about it.

Re: Adding Fogs?

I just bought all the parts for my 2009 WK from jeepoemparts.com. I ordered 2 fog light housings, 2 fog light halogen bulbs, the automatic headlight sensor, and auto headlight switch with fogs for $145. The I just went to auto zone to buy the fuse, but I had to go to the dealer to get the fog light relay ($15), and while I was there I asked what they would charge to activate the fogs and auto headlights. They quoted me $60 and said it would take less than 30 minutes to complete.

Re: Adding Fogs?

Hi SportRanger06

Did you have the wire to connect the sensor? I looked and couldn't find any wire or harness.

Do you know what type of relay to ask for (would you have a part number?) The Jeep dealer doesn't have a clue.

Finally did the auto light need to be activated through Starscan or just the fog light?

If all goes well I will try and post a step by step guide with pics.

Re: Adding Fogs?

I was unable to find the wiring in the dash, actually I bought the sun sensor from the dealer since I gave my VIN to jeepoemparts.com and they refused to ship me one since I didn't have one installed at the factory. Anyway, the sensor I bought from the dealer fell through the hole in the dash, and I can't reach it. When I get a chance to take the Jeep to the work shop I plan on taking the dash apart to find that sensor and the wiring for it. Once I do I will make a post on where it is.

The relay for the fogs is Mopar part number 4671168E

When I took my Jeep to the dealer to activate the fogs, I asked them to also activate the automatic headlights, and I got it back with working Fogs and daytime running lights. Since I haven't been able to get the sensor connected yet, I don't know if they activated the auto headlights or if that is a starscan function. Again, when I get a chance to go to the shop I will let you know and post pics too.

Re: Adding Fogs?

Thanks, I ordered the sensor and the auto headlight switch. I am wondering if the wire/harness is even there on Laredo.

I want to install an auto dim rear view mirror and while everyone said the connector is there on all models, it definitely wasn't in my Laredo.

I wonder if someone knows whether the harness can be added if not there. We know it connects to the sensor on one end but where does it connect at the other end?

Re: Adding Fogs?

GC4x4 said that he found the wiring in his laredo. And logic would say that it should be in the dash somewhere since Jeep offered a loaded up Laredo package that included auto headlights, and the auto dim mirror. I never looked for the mirror wires in mine though. I saw that my headliner has a notch cut out for the wires to be routed through so they may be up there???

Re: Adding Fogs?

Thanks, The fog light wiring is there but looking under the plastic cap where the sensor should go, there is no harness there. My worry is that if I can't see it from the top, I will have to look for it behind the dash. I am not to keen taking the whole thing apart

it would be easier if someone new where it connects too! We would have somewhere to go from.

Re: Adding Fogs?

I have that same problem and was just going to give up on adding them until I lost the sensor in the dash. So im going to take my whole dash apart to find the sensor and if I find the wiring Ill connect it. If not I'll let you know. I plan on going to the work shop this weekend to finish this project.
