Re: Advise New Jeep

Also if you get a salvage make sure you get all the receipts and paperwork. When my wife and I moved back up to NY, she had a salvage titled car and we ended up scraping it at a junk yard since NY required all receipts of repair. Really sucked to throw away a few thousand dollars.

Re: Advise New Jeep

I've been doing research and the state of CA requires all the receipts as well so that seems like a big headache to deal with the DMV...

Re: Advise New Jeep

Yea it is but you can defiantly save a good bit of money. Its a gamble like anything, but there are always pros and cons. You could by a used car off a private seller and two months later the tranny drop.

Re: Advise New Jeep

I know the 3.7 is a bit of a small motor to pull the weight of the vehicle. I got the 4.7 adn get around 14 I believe when I'm driving gentle. If it is problem free and paid off why get rid of it?

Re: Advise New Jeep

I use to drive a 98 xj a few years back which had a salvage title and had no problems at all it was awesome, but when it came time to sell it I got next to nothing for it.

Re: Advise New Jeep

I agree I mean I bought the 4.7L and I am happy with it. Sure the after market availability isn't as large as the 5.7l family but I wouldn't not purchase one because of that. You are going to be able to find a lot for it just really depends on what your ultimate goal is with the jeep.

I still would go look at that one with salvage title especially if its close by. I mean what do you have to lose a few bucks in gas. I would say the largest thing i you are going to lose the resale value. PULL THE CARFAX you will know exactly what happened. It is the best investment you can do at this time.
