Re: After Market HID kits

heh. i had 6000k fogs, IMO especially on my white car, they're just too blue. Switching to 5000k xenon depot fogs and an HID 5000k lowbeam kit.

My HID's are from V-LEDS. 5000K and they are bright as hell! they might be even brighter than the ones on Acura's. I get highbeamed at alot but hey, they're really helpful at night and when you get high beamed at, all you have to do is put your high beams on.....

They are great. They look very clear unlike the cheap HID's from eBay or other companies. They're pretty much as clear as Acura/Cadillac HID's. If anything they might be better looking IMO. That's why I always have them on daytime/night time, that's how much I love em.
BTW the picture I have underneath my posts are NOT VLEDS.

Re: After Market HID kits

I have Xentec for my fogs for over a year now with no problems. Under $40 shipped on Ebay. Id recommend them cuz they are cheap and do what they are meant to do. I would never spend more than forty bucks again for an HID kit.

just had my xentec ballast on my fogs go bad after 6 months. Compared to xenon depot's fogs alone (even on the xentec ballast) they are MUCH more focused with an actual cutoff, whereas the 6000k xentec HID fogs I have were completely diffuse in a circular pattern and diluted in intensity compared to the xenondepot fogs I have, which cut off slightly below the headlights, as they should.

I had Xentec old school ballast 10,000k in my WK for about 5 years without a relay harness.

The first set of Xentec ballast I got were bad. The second set were good.

Now I'm on the Xenon Depot wagon that everybody else here seem to be on. I just want to see what the do inside the Mini Morimoto Projectors.

Re: After Market HID kits

I have xenon depot for low beams, since spring of 09. After installing I had a flickering problem with one side, but I believe it was due to a bad ground contact on my installation and fixed it. Now I've been having the right side flicker and go off, happening for about a month now. If the bulb goes out ill shut the lights off and then on again and it lights up. Im thinking (hopeing) its a ground contact issue and I just have to sand the contact down again and remove any rust that formed.

As far as cutoff points, I thought a bulb is a bulb, and its the housing and reflectors job to aim the light on the road. Also I did notice the refector housing right behind my low beam bulbs appears hazey now, like a burn in effect from the heat from the bulbs. But that could be normal wear and caused with stock halogens as well.
