Alpine REC Dimensions? - Alternatives

I'm wondering if this massive form factor (MY2007) was made just for Jeeps or if it exists as a standard form factor, allowing replacement with other brands.

Would like to replace this with newer models (Pioneer, Alpine) avoiding those horrible fill-frames, to fill in gaps.

custom as far as I can find or ever seen.
so there is no reason you couldnt make something custom to fill the surround and ditch the metra and such fill ins as you call them. i guess its like there are no alternatives commercially available; what is the budget for getting rid of them and go from there. the metra kit is 15 bux. metra sanded smooth and painted or wrapped in some nice vinyl; you can do something yourself for not too much............

Whatever you do, it looks like a patch, something wasn't like that by design...

Re: Alpine REC Dimensions? - Alternatives

then get a d-din and have less filler. and I disagree that if you spend some time you could make something that looks professional. iff you want to press a button and make it happen....well it aint.

Nice if a craftsman could make a one-piece shape like the one highlighted in orange in the pic below, making the inner limits smaller to fit properly a double-din car stereo...
