look into the laws were you are buying. you shouldn't have to pay taxes to both places. one or the other

Hey zeprider25, I already found out that if you are exporting, you don't pay taxes where you are buying it, I told the dealer I wouldn't anyway because i have to pay taxes at home. But a dealer told a friend of mine you don't if you are exporting.

Re: Also need some buyer advice

I cannot tell you a thing about US costs or taxes (Iīm from Chile, I pay 19% of taxes, plus luxury taxes, and engine size taxes ONLY if it is new, after that, cars start depreciation REALLY fast, 1-2 K each year), here, you only pay taxes once, after that, it is a scam, and itīs against the law.
BUT what I can do say is that I bought my 2007 wk limited with 60000 miles, I send to re-manufacture the starting engine, changed the battery, and it was good as new, a pleasure to ride. An overland would be better looking I guess.
That front chrome is a bug deflector (above the grill).
the good thing is that you wonīt have chrome, just platinum which looks real good and lasts longer.
When you get to see it, I would recommend you that you should get below the jeep, and check for corrosion (you will have to replace that part and that is expensive), check if it is a rebuild title, clean, etc.
One last thing: 995 for closing?? thatīs disrespectful, you live in the US and you are sending it to another place (shipping it), you can find an overland with no effort. Also, paying taxes 2 times, thatīs plain BS.

Re: Also need some buyer advice

Thank you HEMI35 for your tip about checking for corrosion. Most buyers are so caught up with the beauty of the jeep we forget to check for things like that. I also told the dealer I was not going to pay taxes in the US, since I will be paying them at home. Right now I am looking around for a better deal, if I buy this jeep for 15,000 I will not have enough money left to ship it home and pay for the road tax.
