another stupid question as long as I'm at it

I've seen SO many arguments all over the internet about Hemi spark plugs. I went into Weaver and asked if they could point me to the OEM spark plugs a few weeks ago, and he said they were some Bosch and that was what I ended up getting. gapped to .045". now I'm finding something about it using two different types of plugs. for the love of god can someone please provide me with some solid answers on this?

with my new plugs, fresh oil/filter, properly inflated tires and a clean K&N drop-in I still averaged around 14-16 MPG while driving as light-footed as I possibly could. could the wrong plugs be that big of a factor in the MPG's?

yes...it very well could. I would go with NEW stock plugs unless you have major mods done to the engine

Re: another stupid question as long as I'm at it

as in, just go to the dealership and ask them for the OEM plugs? I obviously want to run the stock ones, I just can't figure out for the life of me which ones they are. my WK is 99.999% stock, all I have is the K&N drop-in air filter.

5.7 V8 Hemi (2005-2008)
Mopar p/n SPRE14MCC4 (Champion 570)
(.045 gap, 16 plugs, tighten to 13 ft. lbs.*)

(*NOTE: The 5.7L V-8 is equipped with torque critical tapered design spark plugs. Do not exceed 15 ft. lbs. torque.)

search on egr. lots are having all sorts of good results by cleaning /freshening the egr.

In both my Hemi vehicles (LX and WK) I run copper NGK LZTR4A-11, Stock No. 5306. IMO, they work fantastic.

well I was mistaken in thinking I had bought Bosch plugs, I just went and looked, and they are Champions. so I think they are the OEM ones.

The OEM ones are Champion 570's. I got them from Advanced Auto Parts. I'm averaging a good 12-14 MPG's for city (10-11MPG's if I'm on it ) and for highway most so far was 18.2 MPG's with the new plugs.

Re: another stupid question as long as I'm at it

It's a V8 with a HEMI. LOL. I know Frank got 22 MPG's with his 5.7L Jeep. Just cruise control 67-69 MPH and your good!

Re: another stupid question as long as I'm at it

You don't buy a HEMI V8 and expect good gas mileage, along with the fact it weighs almost 5K pounds.

Re: another stupid question as long as I'm at it

I know, I wasn't expecting good mileage but compared to my WJ I'm just surprised that there seem to be absolutely no tricks to improve it.
