Re: Any pointers to getting ready for winter

People can't drive around where I live and I rather not take the risk of a mishap happening because of it. Besides my dd is more then capable of handling snow and if something happens to it... oh well time for a new one.

Not to mention im all set with the nasty salt, sand and pot holes from all the snow and plowing. So the Subie and jeep stay garaged all winter.

Re: Any pointers to getting ready for winter

i put a piece of cardboard in front of my radiator, change the oil back to 5w30 in the summer i use 10w30. I was and wax everything very carefully and make sure all my coats of hurculiner are intact under the jeep. i wax my both sides of my wheels, pack winter stuff under the back seats ( blanket, tow hooks and straps etc). i change my radiator fluid also thats about it.

Re: Any pointers to getting ready for winter

On the 2008 (and probably '09 and '10), there are a total of 7 clips. 3 in the middle opening, one on each side along the outside edge of the wheel well and two that you need to reach from underneath. I think I missed those two on the bottom when I tried last year.

I was curious to see if the fog lights would be left exposed, but they are not. Click the picture below for the full size image.

Re: Any pointers to getting ready for winter

As far as the heating thing goes, get a Tanus heater kit. We use them on alot of our helicopters. You can get them at Canadian Tire or the U.S. equivilent. Basically, it's a heated patch looking thing that you stick and silicone to parts that you want kept warm like the block, oil pan, transmission and plug it in. Keeps the choppers warm enough down to -40 deg. C

or you could put it in a garage
