Re: Blown Head Gasket...

RUN A COMPRESSION TEST... Then run a leak down test. The leak down test is a bit more complex and will probably need to be done at a shop.

the compression test is easier and you can do it at home.
Here is the important thing to remember for a compression test.

FIRST pull all the plugs.
Wire the throttle boddy open (if DBW) then hold the accelerator down.
Do this when the engine is WARM or even hot (might suck to pull the plugs though)
Have a very good charge on the battery and crank for each cylinder for atleast 5 sec. on EACH cylinder.
Be sure to give the starter a break between cranks. it will get warm.

the ACTUAL numbers aren't as important as the difference in each number...
For example..... Take the lowest compression number and divide it by the other numbers. You should have less than 10% spread between cylinders. Basically if the LOWEST number is (example) 150psi, then 160psi is the HIGHEST number.
If you have ONE cylinder or 2 cylinders together that are low and the rest are higher, then theres a chance for a poped HG.

NOW with this explained... i'd be willing to bet your engine is fine.... the water and oil mixed in the catch can will happen in high humidity areas and given the right weather conditions. there was just condensation mixed up with the oil vapor. then it settled down into the CC and , now you have chocolate milk... I wouldn't sweat it.

Also 9 times out of 10 if you pop a HG there would be WHITE smoke HEAVILY pouring out the tail pipe.
Or there would be a coolant leak. Either way the coolant level would be dropping

If the coolant level in you ride is fine and has not dropped any... your engine is fine. Just keep on jeepin

sousa is on a distinguished road
Re: Blown Head Gasket...

First thing is drain the oil and see what color it is. Chocolate milk in the crankcase is almost a sure sign of a head gasket being blown.

Re: Blown Head Gasket...

Hey OP< eventually all of the coolant will leak out and your temp guage will go up and down and up and down as air bubbles pass through, and your heat wont work. Also if you were to take off the rad cap there would be small bubbles or foam all in there expecially after driving it hard.

Re: Blown Head Gasket...

you can also have the oil tested to see if there are minute traces of coolant
