The braking system on the 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 features four-piston performance brake calipers developed by Brembo, finished in red. These calipers work with 360 mm x 32 mm vented rotors up front, and 350 mm x 28 mm vented rotors in the rear.
Thats for the 09... 06-08 say the same too

Re: Brembos on non SRT?

1 more thing.. any part numbers for the 4 new brake lines for the conversion? What is the difference between the non srt and the SRT.. just larger diameter?

No problem appreciate the help

I would love to see a complete WK brake thread much like the suspension one we have.. I will hopefully be able to chart the progress as I want to take on this project before winter, (to justify keeping on my srt reps)

Itll be 3 yrs in Jan. since i did this conversion. I know I have pics on my other laptop of atleast the spindles. Plus...JG wasnt open and we were all at SJokes.

4 piston calipers, with 1.880 in pistons.. Those would work well in the front I'm sure.

Thanks for the help, im trying to figure out if there is a way to do it without replacing the knuckles and backing plates
Those won't work. They appear to be fixed, and we need floating (or maybe the other way around). Not to mention you'd need to have access to a CNC or Water Jet to make brackets for them.

Best bet with brakes is not to be cheap and not to **** around. Aftermarket kits are $4,000+. Is it really so bad to spend a quarter of that for take offs that you know fit and you know will work?

Re: Brembos on non SRT?

A lathe and a bandsaw wouldnt do?

I don't know how i feel about putting a set of USED calipers, from a wrecked vehicle, that has been sitting who knows how long... Thats what I would considering **cking around with breaks.

All those big break kits on the market are priced so high because the fact that they are all sourced from one company. I am sure you can get SRT Brembos ( or similar breaks) for a much lower price, and fab up your own bracket to mount them, for much cheaper than what it would cost for a used set of srts along with all the other components.

I was cruising on the interwebz and people over on the 350z forums with non brembo Z's were putting on willwood breaks for 1300 with all new everything, while others had spent 3K+ for the brembo BBK. And the willwood folks were coming out with better stopping distances.

I was just thinking outside of the box here But I would love to see the brembo part number and specs on the front and rear to compare.

Re: Brembos on non SRT?

Just so you guys know, you may be able to get the calipers cheaper by searching for Mercedes and Cadillac parts. The late model S-class uses the same Brembo front calipers, except without the paint and logo, and the first Gen CTS-V uses the same rear calipers.

Re: Brembos on non SRT?

R1 concepts has the calipers cheap check there - like $300 a set. Used is ok if you know what you are looking at and how to fix/rebuild anything. I got 4 used from a member and check them over perfect condition as well as the rotors. Stock rotors are by far the bets for stopping power. R1 is all a look thing which I love but I drive a lot and at speed so need to STOP a lot if you catch my drift haha.

Anyway, they are 100% 4 pistons all the way around, maybe the new ones of justforjeeps are 6 up front but any caliper from 06-08 or so was 4 all around I know.

Also, you could easily fab up the brackets but I don't know if the rotors will mount up without the proper hubs? The offset is different supposedly but Im not sure. The bolt pattern is the same and all I thought it had to due with the rotor depth though so not sure if you can use stock. Keep hunting down the spindle/hubs you'll find some. Even if you get the entire front knees for $800 its a good deal for the fact you'll get brembos on your Jeep! haha, way I look at it.

Also there are tons of other calipers out there that could be used so yea, your right on that, custom break setups are like anything, if you have access to a shop and some knowledgeable guys, oh yea and some $/time, you can do anything. Im sure you could fit some ZR-1 Carbon-Ceramic brakes on the Jeep if you needed lol
