Blizzaks are strictly a winter tire that is highly siped (http://sipers.com/
, check out all the videos) and made of a softer rubber that doesn't harden as much in cold temperatures. You can get traditional tires siped and it will help somewhat, but not as much as the Blizzaks. I run siped (by the tire dealer) all season tires on all my vehicles.
