Broken tube

I have this broken tube that connects to where the oil is serviced. I can work on and fix jet engines, but car engines not so much. I tried looking up the part number printed on the tube. However that part number is shared on multiple vehicles.

Is this something to really worry about? Where can I find the exact part and is it hard to change?

Re: Broken tube

The part is the PCV valve (positive crankcase ventilation) and its very easy to change. In fact it should be checked/changed regulary, since the PCV system is very important to prevent the formation of sludge in the engine.
To remove it, just turn it counter clockwise until you can see the locating tab and pull it out. Spraying some WD40 will help with the removal.
This valve breaks very easily, already had two breaking before while trying to remove the hose from the valve. Probably because the plastic gets brittle over time due to the heat. I think that many car parts stores will sell it, Rockauto.com has it also.
